Reilly gets a chance to prove he's worth his contract here and pad his stats.

He has to do it without Arceneaux this week. Good luck with the rest of those receivers. Mind you the Argos have only averaged 10.5 points in each of their 2 games. So it won't take much.

Hope that the game is close.  If TO gets hammered again then the crowds will dwindle to nothing...not good for the CFL.

The deeper the Leos fall down the better. Maybe they'll start the firetire sale early.

Man was that one ugly football game!!! Thankfully the Crappy Bowl is over.

What was Toronto thinking on the kickoff?? They pooch kick it so Reilly starts at his 45!?! Man Chamblin is out of it!?! Then they miss the field goal, but win because Rainey steps out of bounds fielding the ball?-it?s like each team was trying to lose the game!!

Arcineaux is not now not playing with the Lions, he's now not playing for the Riders...

Quote of the week.  Although... non-WPG fans could also say:

CM is not now not playing in the NFL, he's now not playing in the CFL

I hope I didn't just bestow the AB curse-of-uselessness on CM... but I'm not impressed to date.

I see Simonese is scheduled to start at SB with the Lions.

Drop ball.  Drop ball.  Drop from team later this week.  I was watching MR's face all game and he was really (REALLY!) not impressed with Simonise (and others) dropping easy passes for sure-thing conversions.

Please unmic Willis he is freaking annoying. I think he has the mind of a 10 year old.

Black said something about Claybrooks saying Willis needs to rush or something, but I'm pretty sure it was Willis telling Willis to rush to the QB on that play.  As in talking to himself in the 3rd person!  Can anyone confirm?  Dude always did seem a bit nuts.

This stupid split screen with Willis sucks

Yes TSN, never do that again, holy moley.

I tried to ignore it, but after so many comments and complaints about Claybrooks hat I can't help but notice it now, and I have to agree it looks poor. I don't know why it bugs me, but it does.

I never see the hat, as I'm fixated on that crazy tongue that's always hanging out and licking his upper-left lip.  That's one nervous tick that really grosses me out.  Give me MOS's salt habit any day compared to hurl-inducing mouth-gaping tongue shots.  And that tongue was working overtime in that game, as it always does when he gets nervous, yeesh.

Wilder is a crap running back.

He had his big half a season when he first came into the league has done zero since.

Yup, quiet 1.2 years for Wilder.  He's a genius though for making his splash, demanding massive pay, and banking his big contract before he reverted to what he knew was his mediocre norm.  Genius.  (He did have that one great run though.)

Toronto should have kicked a field goal , down by 8, and they gamble on 3rd and two from the 33 yard line. Still ended up almost winning. worst qbs for listening to a miked up game. Then they split the screen in two for a good portion of the game. So they can show the two players.

I think what irks people is that we all expect a certain level of professionalism from HC's in the CFL.  We don't usually old OC/DC's to the same standard because we see them a lot less.  Now that he's a HC, he should act more like a HC.  He hasn't changed a thing since being DC.  The hat, the belly-rubbing, and the over-active tongue.  Not a good look for a product we're trying to export to Europe!

It's the same reason we are all so enthralled with Maas's rages and fits.  It's unprofessional.

MOS's shorts (and even salts) barely enters the realm of those two guys.

Oh ya, did you see in OTT how much of our O was wearing shorts (like they did last year) and OTT was exclusively in full-lengths?  I wonder how much that factored into our win, given the heat/humidex out there.  Our guys looked less bushed than theirs (even their O, who were barely playing).  Smart, smart move allowing shorts.  I thought the CFL had dress-codes, but I guess shorts are allowed.

Oh ya, after seeing Awe get interviewed... I'm really impressed.  He's always been a good player, but now I see how smart he is and what his demeanour is... the guy is a total MOS/WPG lockerroom style guy.  He'd fit right in.

If we ever need a player at that position, we could do worse than Awe.  Too bad he's an IMP.  He impressed me more in the TOR game than zillion-dollar probably-nicked-again Solly did in the SSK game.

Give it a rest. And as a DC, Claybrooks is very good. He's just in over his head as HC right now because Hervey can't manage a roster or the purse strings.

I'll give you the Maas rage fits. But Claybrooks isn't an old.school coach. He's a guy who I'm sure gets along great with his players and I won't be surprised if players want to play for him just like they do MOS. There's nothing wrong with a HC having fun (a la belly rubs) and there is nothing at all wrong with wearing a tilted hat.  It's his niche. If it actually bugs someone, all I can say is it must suck to be so miserable

Wilder was wearing a jersey that left his midriff exposed, I thought that was pushing the dress code a bit.

Maybe he's auditioning for the LFL for next season?  They seem to be good with the exposed midriffs.

I believe the dress code is relaxed after a certain temperature is reached.

A few of the Bombers including Strevy had bare legs. Normally they need to be covered.

Give it a rest. And as a DC, Claybrooks is very good. He's just in over his head as HC right now because Hervey can't manage a roster or the purse strings.

agree

I'll give you the Maas rage fits. But Claybrooks isn't an old.school coach. He's a guy who I'm sure gets along great with his players and I won't be surprised if players want to play for him just like they do MOS. There's nothing wrong with a HC having fun (a la belly rubs) and there is nothing at all wrong with wearing a tilted hat.  It's his niche. If it actually bugs someone, all I can say is it must suck to be so miserable

Was he though?  How much of '18 was Claybrooks and how much was just CGY's system?  Serious question.  I think BC's performance this year vs CGY's will tell the tale... we'll know for sure by the end of the year.  I'd much rather have Hall than Claybrooks as my DC, let alone MOS than Claybrooks as HC!!

What do you mean "shorts"? All football pants go to the knee. Unless you're confusing our rolled down socks for "shorts"?

I'm completely ignorant of the design of pro football uniforms.  To me they look like "shorts", but if it's just a lack of socks or rolled up uniforms, whatever: what our players did seemed to benefit them vs the normally-attired opponents.

Surely this stuff must be in the rulebook?

Speaking of equipment: why are there so many games where people are slipping and sliding?  The games where it had rained earlier, or rained during the game, why aren't they wearing better cleats more suited to wet turf?  Same with the '18 GC game: CGY seemed to bring the correct footwear and OTT didn't, as OTT was slipping & sliding way more than CGY.  If I was a HC/GM I'd put way more effort into footwear study and equipment.  Optimizing footwear makes or breaks games.  (Going back to the old "staples" story.)

The CFL regularly fines players a small amount for dress code violations. We just never hear about it.

Well, it isn't like Claybrooks just stepped into that role last season. He was DC in Calgary for three seasons, after having spent four as the D-line coach. He knows his stuff on the defensive side of the ball. As head coach, however, he's somewhat in over his head and Hervey has really screwed him over with the roster.

No different than Tim Burke, IMO. A very good DC but a lousy head coach put in a bad position whose tenure suffered in part due to poor management.

when they did that little profile on Claybrooks when we played them about him and his hat... between the crooked hat and the grin on his face it looked like he may have gotten into the hooch before he came to the game, lol... I know he hadn't but it was just the combination of the two made me think it...  Grin

Claybrooks is learning to be a HC. It's his first year and he's rebuilding from scratch, much like MOS did. He has a quality QB and a top receiver (Who's injured). I wouldn't say he's bad or in over his head yet. Gotta wait until next year to say that.

Ya, but in today's environment of "fire first, ask questions later", how long does a floundering Claybrooks get to produce results?  BC is usually average in the West, so if he takes them down into the dumpster, does he even get a 2nd season?  (Even worse, the dumpster with the best QB in the CFL!)

MOS got so long with poor results at first because the results with the prior HC were even worse.  Plus, WPG is a more laid back, patient, market.  What's another year tacked on to 29?

I can't see Claybrooks getting 6 years of rope with no GC appearance in BC, like MOS has had in WPG!!

I can't see Claybrooks getting or needing 6 years to win a playoff game. Then again, I couldn't see MOS getting 5 years either. My guess is that BC starts to turn it around mid-season. It doesn't look good for them making the playoffs in year 1, but they could end up in 4th and the cross over.

Claybrooks better push it, Reilly doesn't have 4 years left in him much less 6.
