Andrew Harris Named Shaw Top Performer of the Week

WINNIPEG, MB., June 18, 2019 - After back-to-back rushing titles in 2017 and 2018, Blue Bombers running back Andrew Harris continued his stellar play in the first week of 2019, rushing for 148 yards on 16 carries in the Week One win at BC. One of the questions going into the season was if Andrew could still get it done.

Here's his answer.

Andrew is good for a few more years. He works hard in the off season, eats right. He mite need some load management in the future but AH is a machine.

And if he so wanted would make a great slotback to further his career when being the feature back gets to be a bit taxing on them old bones

Hehe, questioned by a few people.  Not by me (and tons of people here)!  I'm like MOS, I'm just in awe of AH, have zero doubts about him, and just want to have fun watching him kill D's.

There was a few bombers fans that thought he was over the hill when he got here.

I definitely didn't think he'd be setting career high's at this point.

We use him way better than BC ever did.

Very true, Wpg. has built their offence around him, in BC he was just another RB.

Many questioned him every year for the last 2 or 3.  Harris is like fine wine, gets better with age.

agree

I will continue to believe Harris can get the job done until he shows me otherwise.  But he just keeps getting better!

He definitely had it going in week one. The next challenge will be how he sustains for an 18 game season. He's a one-of-a-kind talent but he's not Superman. Those hits add up and the older you get the harder it usually is to bounce back from. I'm obviously pulling for him every step of the way but Andrew Harris week one may look quite different than Andrew Harris week 17.

The challenge the last two years has been getting 18 games out of him. RB is a punishing position for anyone. Just hoping we don't see a late Sept slow down.

It would be wise to keep AH fresh by spelling him off when game situations allow. Whether that is by using more plays to Oliveria, Demski or more passing plays than run focused plays.

Like I said it will depend on game situation and opponent etc. It's not an easy decision to make in closer games.
