Safety is literally the easiest position to replace. I am not worried at all about the loss of Loffler especially when we have Bighill over the middle.

In theory he's quicker and reportedly a better cover guy. I'd rather have a safety that prevents a completion by coverage positioning than needing to hit a receiver to create an incompletion.

I mentioned in another string that the Bombers put Jones on the Injured Veteran roster. I know he had a season ending injury so I hope that's not a real concern.

The injured vet roster has been used by every team, every year, in order to get a couple/few more rookies in for a look see. I would read nothing into that at this point of the season.

I know that but I also know Jones had a season ending injury and he may actually not be ready. Like last year when we heard Leggett was ok and would be ready for TC when he wasn't ever ready.

When he shows up for the main TC and isn't sitting out most reps the comfort zone will be higher.

Well then more reps and experience for the younger and higher upside of any of the guys we have Conteh to maybe grasp the spot and run with it, he does posses nice cover skills and at Grambling did have the rep as a big hitter

Also was an all star by default..name another really good safety who played last year in the west for the whole season..now try the east..nothing special
So he was the best safety in the league?
The biggest factor in all star voting is name recognition, not play.
He was still better than anyone else in the West. Just because he's gone doesn't mean his accomplishments don't count

We've got a lot of Canadian DB's coming to TC. We should be fine at safety. It was more of a question whether Jones is still not 100% or whether this was just a paper shuffle to get a couple more bodies to look at.

I'm really not trying to do that. I just don't view All Star voting as a legitimate factor in rating a player.

Jones is 100% faster than Loffler, remember any of his blocks?
Whether or not he's a better safety is the question. Loffler will spend half the year on Montreal's IR anyways.

Loffler is a very good safety. His achievements shouldn't be undersold. However, safety and RB are two very replaceable positions in the CFL because there are a ton of players who can excel at these positions.

He's missed only 4 games in 3 seasons ( 54 games ). One of those was last year when we played all our back ups and he wasn't actually injured.

So why the bitterness suggesting he'll miss half a season in Montreal? He could get injured or he could play 18 games. However he does not have a history of missing CFL games.

I agree you shouldn't pay a ton for either position

I wonder if anyone is gonna defend Loffler like they did Dressler. Only difference is youre actually making something up about Loffler

There was no bitterness  Huh, but I would have sworn he missed more. He sure played injured frequently then.
New team that hired him because of his physicality...he'll want to impress.  Montreal's D is probably going to be on the field a lot...
Adds up to injury if I'm a betting man.

His injury history was confined to his NCAA/CIS days. He would have been picked higher in the CFL draft had he stayed healthy. He did miss a lot of practices here and I think the Bomber approach was always slow and careful with him. You do wonder about a guy like that as the professional miles pile up. He's a good player and I hope he stays healthy. He doesn't have an injury history exactly, but I think it's still a concern.
