Cooper is back a) familiarity with playbook
b) outside shot as a returner
Last year's PR players have an early edge. With the knowledge of the play book and some game experience that helps. That could lead to becoming a starter in their 2nd year and great players.
The downside is massive competition in TC. Players that spent most of the previous season on the PR usually have to make a push / move to the AR 44. If they don't there is a reluctance on both sides to return to the PR.
Not every import looks astounding in the 1st few games but look much better after their 2nd TC.
So Cooper or Humes might end up as top young DB' pushing to start. We won't know for awhile whether the 2019 rookies are the next Alexander or Sayles or the next Carmichael ( lol ).
Opportunities exist and it's going to be exciting to see who shines.
Just because I wasn't impressed by Cooper in 2018 doesn't mean he can't or won't take a giant step forward.
