Strong rumours of a trade between the bills and steelers...could that free up a Duke Williams faster or easier?  Could the Bombers back up the money truck for him?

Could be interesting - probably timing wouldn't be until September but you never know...

I thought Kyle Walters had him convinced to come to Winnipeg and be our #1 WR??!?!

Not sure about Williams... I'm holding out for Zylstra!  Even Matthews would be better.  But I guess I'd take Duke if it comes down to the wire.

Our receivers need a kick in the butt to get started.  They are the worst we've had in many years.

Deal fell apart...

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reports that after intense talks that went into last night, and almost agreeing on trade compensation, the Bills say they are out on a Brown trade, per a source informed of the situation.

Rapoport noted that Brown would not commit to showing up in Buffalo and the Bills decided a trade was not worth the drama of wondering if the receiver would accept the trade.

Brown would be a major distraction to any NFL team.

I would rank Duke well ahead of Matthews...unless the vikes land a top prospect in the draft I don't think Zylstra is going anywhere.   He would be great in Winnipeg though.

Earliest those guys are shaking loose is probably October - maybe Mathews sooner as I think his NFL dreams are well over.

I feel people are over thinking this.

He's the best receiver in the league on a reasonable contract. Sign him up.

Sounds like that rumour didn't have many legs in the first place. Brown himself tweeted it was fake news. LOL

I have no idea how this might have helped the Bombers. If Williams shakes loose in Buffalo, I imagine he'll get looks from other NFL teams before he were to set his sights north again.

I don't think it's up to Brown...

I'm well aware. But it would be his decision to report to the team.

Maybe. Some players have no trade or restricted trade clauses.

Reading up a little, it seems as though he's simply threatening to retire.

Steelers don't HAVE to trade him though. They can force him to play or sit (as with Bell last season).

Contract disputes can get ugly and this ones getting ugly. sounds like both camps are digging in and Brown may be sitting the season out
