A crazy fact from that article:

Quote
The Alouettes don?t have a first-round CFL draft pick until 2022: they might have the No. 9 ranking until then.

1,8, and 9 are likely closest to correct.  2 - 7 is a coin toss at this point.

I don't know how I'd rank teams at the moment. My only comment would be that Calgary may be hard pressed to hold onto their # 1 ranking.  Like many teams they've lost some serious talent on both sides of the ball.

Losing Singleton will also result in a ripple effect on their ratio among their starters.

Ranking this early is interesting but a new ranking just before TC will be more informative.

I feel like for the last 8 years I've been saying that over and over again and have been wrong every single year. Not falling for it again!

I think it is Calgary then everyone else in between with Mtrl. at the bottom until proven otherwise.

Teams 2-8 can move around so much between now and TC, and even through the first few weeks.

The only constants are that Cal. is/and will stay a-top until someone definitively proves to be better and Mtrl looks to be so bad, barring a complete collapse of another team they will remain at the bottom.

Just like the Patriots, the Stamps always seem to be good.

Thinking that power rankings either take too much or too little account of the QB...  looks like this one takes them into account, SSK, OTT, TOR, MTL all have either a questionable  or a not proven QB... and are the bottom 4...

Pretty comical. But it's a pretty slow time in the off-season, so meh.

I think it's fair to take a shot at the rankings at this ridiculously early point. I mean, the major pieces (QBs and big name FAs) are, for the most part, in place. It's less likely that the few breakout rookies that will get signed and have big years every season are going to change things so much, and we won't know that until after the season gets underway. What will affect the final outcome more is how the off season shuffle has affected the gelling of all moving pieces, and that answer, again, isn't determined until after the season starts, not so much simply closer to opening day.

Power rankings aren?t a prediction of how the teams will finish in the standings.  It is simply a snapshot of the relative strength of each team at this moment in time.  There are still some late free agents to sign, a draft to conduct, etc. so it is expected that these are fluid.

In other words, as of today, you would rather be Calgary or Winnipeg than Ottawa, but that might change by the time the season starts.

I feel like all power rankings are just for fun. If you want the real standings they've got all teams at 0-0 which is true, but kind of boring.
