Football players have a short career and have to go for the money,
sad to say. I don't think younger CFL fans can even grasp having pretty much
the same players on your team for almost a decade. I certainly miss that!

IAN WILD:

I think he really deserves his own thread, but I'll post here instead, for now.  A Bomber essentially since '13, Wild has been one of the most loyal and consistent on our D.  He was rumoured to have taken a big pay cut to stay in B&G for '18.  He never lost faith in our team and its ability to move forward.

And he was a fan fave.  At least he was one of my faves.  The only downside I would comment on is he caught the injury bug a lot.  I always found that surprising for such a stout guy.

I'm quite surprised TOR picked him up (I thought he'd retire), and I'm happy he gets to continue playing, as he obviously wants to.  I hope he's a monster on Will, except against B&G where I hope he can't catch up to our jet sweep, gets fooled by Nichols pass option, and whiffs on runs from AH33 et al.

Thanks for all the years and hard work Ian.  It didn't go without notice!!

See, I'm not the only one who was a huge fan.  I know there's a lot more around here too.

I think Denny should have had his own thread a year ago.

I'd say if you're a fan favorite starter and stayed with the Bombers for 5+ years and never demanded huge bucks and showed up all the time you weren't injured and did your job and at least for a few years you were really effective on-field, you do deserve your own thread.

Short of that, for sure Wild deserves some kudos on this thread.

Now the "stretch break" at IGF will be just Meddy with Ian gone.  I think Ian handled it far better!!  That said, regardless of who's up there, I'm still not stretching  Wink Wink

Difference between Ian Wild and Denny...

After being cut nobody wanted Denny (although Wild has to survive training camp still)

Wild will also only play 6-7 games even if he makes a team.
