Blue Bombers Agree to Terms With Defensive Tackle Jake Thomas on One-Year Extension

WINNIPEG, MB., January 8, 2019 - The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today announce the club has agreed to terms with Canadian defensive tackle Jake Thomas.

Thomas will be entering his eighth CFL season in 2019, all with Winnipeg. He has recorded 92 defensive tackles, 13 sacks, three forced fumbles and one interception in 119 games played (25 starts). In 2018, Thomas recorded three sacks, 17 defensive tackles and two forced fumbles while appearing in all 18 games. Thomas was originally drafted by the Bombers 29th overall in the 2012 CFL Draft.

"I'm very excited to be returning for my eighth year with the Bombers," said Thomas. "Winnipeg and the organization have become like a second home to me, and to be able to have another shot at our ultimate goal is something I am very appreciative for."

Good depth and we have / had lots of our National players approaching potential free agency. Need to lock some of these players up before then hopefully.

At the moment we seem to be hearing about one new signing a day. That's encouraging.

Great to have Jake back in the fold! I guess he shunned all NFL offers coming his way in exchange for ball security in the Peg.  Now go out and get some Trent Corney.

Lots of the fringe guys will be signing early this year as they don't get much in the way of signing bonuses anyway. JT probably learned for his mistakes last year when he waited for a better offer that never came.

Good signing and needed to be done but I'd love to see some OL or Loffler re-up here first

An okay signing. As for getting our Canadian players re-signed, I'll get excited when we re-sign our OL and Demski.

And Loffler. 4 National starters that are excellent players.
