Game 5 rosters:

Darrin Bauming   @DarrinBauming
Chris Matthews told me yesterday he felt ready to play this week. This morning, however, it is Kenny Lawler with the first-team O. Matthews is out this week, as is Charles Nelson.

Jermarcus Hardrick, Lucky Whitehead, Jeff Hecht all slated to play and start in their usual spots.

Kenny Walker
enters in place of Nelson. Walker is a former track athlete will as much pure, straight-line speed as anyone. He will handle kick and punt return duties with Whitehead. #Bombers

Mike O'Shea
doesn't like the term "healthy scratch." But that is what Chris Matthews is this week for the #Bombers. O'Shea adds that one week's roster isn't indicative of anything other than just that, and Matthews will be a big part of their season moving forward.

Jeff Hamilton   @jeffkhamilton
#Bombers depth chart for Friday's home game vs. the Ottawa Redblacks. Most noticeable move is Winnipeg is scratching Chris Matthews for Kenny Lawler. Adam Bighill is on the chart but he's a game-time decision. #wfp

Kelly Moore   @KMooreCJOB
Coming off the practice roster are DB Deondre Wright and LB Dale Warren with Nelson and Jesse Briggs both going on 6 game IL

Ted Wyman   @Ted_Wyman
Former #Bombers DB Chris Randle is listed as the backup to Sherrod Baltimore at boundary corner for the #Redblacks for Friday's game at IG Field. #CFL

#Bombers have video tribute planned for Randle, who is on the roster for #Redblacks but could conceivably be scratched. #CFL

Ted Wyman   @Ted_Wyman
#Redblacks will have very different lineup vs. #Bombers this week than they did on July 5. Jon Jennings instead of Dom Davis at QB, Sherrod Baltimore instead of Chris Randle at corner. And here are all the players who are coming off roster this week: #CFL

Not sure about Walker doing both PR and KR, how is Lucky not the KR specialist?

Looks like Randle is the backup CB...  wasn't he starting before?

Yes. He's started every game until now but he has been getting torched. We definitely made the right call on him.

We have 2 guys back on KRs. Up til this week it's been Whitehead and Nelson. Last year it was Fogg and ______. Just one guy normally gets the lion share of returns.

Darrin Bauming   @DarrinBauming
The #Bombers have added two Canadian receivers to their practice roster, both big bodies - 6'4" 215lb Alex Morrison and 6'3" 220lb Malcolm Williams.

Nic Demski
was banged up in the first quarter back on Friday night and did not return.

NEW BLUE BLOOD:

The Bombers added two new Canadian receivers to their practice roster on Monday with the signings of Malcom Williams and Alex Morrison.

Williams (6-3, 220, Langley Rams) appeared in 24 games in 2017-18 for Toronto, pulling in 27 passes for 266 yards.

Morrison (6-4, 220, UBC) was a fourth-round draft pick of Montreal in 2017, who returned to the Thunderbirds in 2017, but missed all of last year due to injury.

Doesn't hurt to take a look at some Canadians. Hopefully this isn't an indication that Demski may not be able to play.

However we do need to add depth on the PR in the event we experience injuries in the future.

I think these signings are directly related toNic Demskis injury.  Anyone see something specific  with it.  I just saw him get knocked out of bounds early in the fourth.  Did he land awkwardly( obscured by people on sideline.
Anyone?

I think these signings are directly related to Nic Demskis injury.

Global News Winnipeg reported Monday that WR Chris Matthews was stabbed at a downtown restaurant over the weekend and was taken to the hospital before being released. Winnipeg Police Services told Ted Wyman of The Sun that no charges are expected to be laid from the incident and Matthews was practicing on Monday.

Locker room distraction? I imagine he has some value if he were to be shopped around the league.

Yeah. Getting stabbed would cause that. Should.def trade him.

Seriously, people should stop trying to figure out if a guy is a locker room cancer or whatever as a way of justifying their dislike for them. Worry about the on the field product, not what happens in the locker room. Because none of us know what goes on in there, speculating anything is just weak

Interesting that highly ranked draft picks Danny Vandervoort and Mark Chapman are out there somewhere but nobody seems to be knocking on their doors.  I liked what Matt Coates did in his time with the Bombers a few years ago but I suppose he has retired from football by now.

Yeah, attempting to trade a player who's been dealing with injuries and still isn't likely 100% is a great idea.

You read an awful lot into my question about being a distraction, I'm not trying to figure out anything nor have I ever posted anything that would lead one believe I like or dislike any player on the roster, let alone Chris Matthews. But hey lets speculate, that's generally what these forums run on, speculation.

The Bombers have virtually no on field product to speak of when discussing Chris Matthews, unless you want to look at old film. He was a declared a healthy scratch for the last game, why?

The stabbing apparently happened outside the locker room, not exactly the thing the locker room is known for.... last guy that had an incident that seemed to color outside the lines and made the papers got walking papers very quickly, but come to think of it he wasn't an expensive free agent WR splash, just a talented up and coming LB.

I just think it makes for good forum fodder... Big name free agent WR that has hardly played a down almost halfway through the season, healthy scratch one week, stabbed in restaurant the next and barely a word is uttered... could be nothing.

I'd be more concerned if Matthews stabbed someone as opposed to getting stabbed. My wild speculation is that this all resulted from someone seeing a local sports celeb that spent some time in "The League" in a restaurant/bar late at night and decided to show off to his buddies by starting something.
