Not looking good for the Riders. Here's the source:

Ya, but the "Out - Ques" seems to not mean much, as that's what we have Dressler listed as under WPG.

That's true, but it says undisclosed which usually means rest not injury.

Yeah, I would take this list with a grain of salt.  I'll wait until later in the week when they start practicing.  To be honest, I'd rather them have Collaros play.  He does not impress me at all.

Report on 3down says Collaros was practicing today:

http://3downnation.com/2018/11/05/zach-collaros-takes-part-riders-practice/

It does describe it as a "light workout", but, at least with people I know who've dealt with concussions, that you are definitely not supposed to do that while concussed.  Sounds like he must have cleared protocol.

Good I would like to see him out there playing against a hungry on a playoff Sunday. I cannot see him playing that well in the suspect condition he is clearly in. He sucked when he was ?healthy? what could go wrong?

Here's Zach's first few series on Sunday:

run
run
screen
run
pass - INT

2nd series:
run
screen
run
run
pass - INC
punt

It'll be all run all day regardless of who SSK puts in.  Heaven forbid they put Bridge in, it'll be the above minus the forward passes.

Load the box boys!  Run blitz all the time, and keep someone out to stop the screen.  Get some edge pen for the sweep and any scramble and that's all she wrote.

colaros was done in Hamilton.  He was never the same after his injuries there.  It seems like whenever he is even pushed hard( any jolt ) he looks injured.

I agree that I hope he is OK.  Based on my coaching experience, I would be extremely hesitant to rely on him anymore. Just based on his physical and injury potential, i would encourage anither career.

Light workout means he is in the final stage of concussion protocol. The final stage of concussion protocol he can participate in a light workout/non pads drills. If he passed that protocol he can fully practice today.

If for some unknown reason we decide to go off the board and not bring heat on Collaros my head will explode...just seems like something that would happen.

Don't overthink the plan MOS and Hall - bring the pressure and sask will implode and we win this game.

I think this needs to be and will be the defensive strategy no matter who they start. Bridge, Watford, Tate...if we are getting to the QB all afternoon, there's not much they are able to do...

We'll bring pressure but you can bet the Riders are working on every manner of screen, short cross, etc. Pressure has been the key to our defense this year but you still have to mix it up and call it at the right time. I suspect we'll start safe and ratchet up the pressure as the game goes along.

I hope he plays...he will be pretty jittery and have happy feet and it will be in his head not to get hit...so he will rush and force things that aren't there for self preservation.

I see a lot of off throws, and I bet a few picks early due to this...If we crank up the heat and don't let up until they show they can take advantage of it...then I see that offence having no real chance

If Bombers bring the blitz...and Collaros is feeling the heat...
Bombers win.
Once the Bombers changed up their defensive philosophy this season...we played outstanding football.
Now is not the time to change things up...
Blitz, blitz and then blitz some more.

Bring a similar game plan to the game we had against Edmonton in October. That was quite the dominating performance and more of that would be tremendous.

The weather may be a factor as I believe that it will be in the area of -7C as the game starts and then drop.  I have been told that it has snowed all night also.  The running game will probably decide the out come so we should win with Harris and the best ML in the league.

Collaros is getting set to play one week after suffering a concussion.  A kid on my son's hockey team suffered a concussion about a month ago, doctors advised no return to hockey until mid Jan., 3 months rest minimum from vigorous activity.  This is the difference between real world care and the abridged version of it used in professional sports, which is a sham.

You make a very good point. At the end of the day, though, Collaros should be sensible enough to realize the dangerous territory into which he's treaded. He's suffered a ton of concussions and seems rather flippant about any of it.

Whoever says he was injured doesn't know Jones. He pulls him all the time. He got pulled in a game that didn't mean anything. Of course he is going to play.  Stop the run game mainly and go after the qb. I think the main thing is protect our own qb and get points. Like to see Dressler and our receivers have a real good game. Saskatchewan will blitz . Nichols has to make good reads and go deep.

If Collaros was to give up football his earnings would go from aprox. $450,000 to around nuthin', easy to say long-term health should prevail but in reality difficult to accept a hard fact that deprives him of making that much money.

He wouldn't just become an unemployed bum if he chose to retire. There are coaching opportunities aplenty out there, especially in the US.

Also, it'd pretty be difficult to enjoy all that money if your brain's just a puddle of mush.

Donny it will definitely be a hard fought game. No doubt about it....and if we don't play our best football of the year we could lose unless the Riders do the same. However, as fans and based on the past third of the season I think there is good reason for optimism in this game. The Riders are not a complete team, the only way they beat us is if we let them.

It will be a tough game. They will try to stop the run and they have good kick returners. Bombers have to tackle well and score points . Need touchdowns . They will probably uses Bridges quite abit to run him on plays. I think Saskatchewan will use both quarterbacks. Need to get a lead and keep Saskatchewan off balance on their defense.

Riders stop short of naming Collaros starter for West semi:

Quote
Bridge will start at quarterback for Saskatchewan if Collaros isn?t able to play. Jones said backup David Watford and new signing Drew Tate would also be available. Tate, a nine-year CFL veteran, was signed out of retirement last weekend as a precaution.

You know what... the more I think about it, the more I think they won't start Collaros if he's even remotely iffy.  Think about it: if Collaros starts and he doesn't get concussed out of the game, and SSK loses?  There goes Jones' only excuse.

If Collaros doesn't start, Jones can't point to that after the loss, shrugging his shoulders, saying no one can win without their star QB.

Jones has got to be feeling the Bomber heat... he knows we're a better team.  He knows luck doesn't win playoff games.  If his star QB plays the whole game and they still lose, he could very well be run out of SSK in the off-season.  The smart move is to play Bridge or Tate and afford himself another year to try again.

Bridge took almost all 1st team reps today. Not looking good 4 Collaros. He's not good enough that he can miss reps as a smoke screen. If this is an attempt at misdirection then Jones is an idiot.

That?s why I prefer him playing over Bridge. If Riders game plan is to run most of the game Bridge fits into that as a dual threat back there.

I don't care who they play.

"Dual threat"...that implies he is good at both and he isn't really good at either. Streveler is a dual threat.

I don't think the fog has cleared in Collaros's head yet, post-concussion. So I am guessing Bridge will start. And that will be more difficult to defend in conditions that favour a ground attack. Hopefully he throws the usual 2-3 picks.

Doesn't matter. Collaros was manhandled last time. And Bridge - well he's bad but at least he can run. Either way Bombers fire up the aggressive D they've had the last many games and they can easily handle Riders offence.

Well....I suppose it's only fitting since the last playoff game in '07 against the Bombers had them missing their#1 QB.

No Zach?  Official?

There's the excuse all of SSK needs to excuse their loss.  I love it!  This gives the team an excuse to quit when they are down big time.  This gives the fans an excuse to go home in the 3rd.

Unfortunately, this also will give greenie fans on the forums ammo to whine about from now until eternity (or next season).

I say bring on the Bridge!  They just went from 75% run/screen to 95% run/screen.  Stop the run.  Protect the edges.  INT the other 5%.

The funny thing is, we could actually see Tate in once Bridge gets his 3rd INT or 5th consecutive 2&out, whatever comes first.

As far as I?m concerned the only thing that changes is the pressure is just that much more on this franchise to win. I believe Bridge was the qb for most of the banjo bowl so he beat us once already. Nothing less than A+ game will be required.

Bridge will not beat us with his arm. He needs to become a run threat today?s and sustain drives and use up the clock using his legs. Riders can?t win a shoot out so if I?m them, I m running the ball and winning the TOP game, it?s their only chance.
