No doubt!!  I have been to several Popeyes Chicken in the US, and trust me, Mary Browns is just as good, maybe better.  People are just hyped for the brand name, not the product itself.

Mary Browns just opened a new location near my house so I tried it out and thought it was pretty good. No way in hell would I line up in a 2 hour line for it though. Those people waiting at popeye's are just nuts...

Been waiting almost my whole life to try Popeyes (stupid American commercials). Ironically, I tried it for the first time in Edmonton a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't impressed at all and am not going to wait in line to try it again.

On a more positive note, tried Nuburger for the first time at their location at the Forks - pretty much the best burger I ever had. To top it off, you get to order a beer at the forks now too. If it wasn't so busy there these days, I'd be there every week.

I went to the new Nurburger at the crossroads shopping thingy and it was awesome as well. I had the chicken cheddar burger with yam fries and it all was awesome.

Lol whenever i go to Nuburger I always order the Blue and Gold burger for obvious reasons and don't really care for it.  Not sure why I don't try anything else there.

Also yes the commons at the forks is pretty cool they got a good selection of beers.  I love going there skating the rivers in the winter and catching a beer after, but like you said sometimes its just too busy there.

Yes....you?re correct it was Juniors back then and they had the Fat Boy burger which was epic back then.....as my somewhat ititinerant memory recalls...lol

I had a Juniors burger last summer.... taste exactly like they did in the 70's. They're to small though.

Gus is a beauty and makes a great za. The calzones there are pretty deadly, too. We order from there work pretty often.

Agostinos makes the best cheap chicken souvlaki takeout.  Not a huge fan of their tzatziki (a bot too watery for my taste; I prefer it thicker), but it's decent.

On another note, how is there not 50 posts about Popeyes?

Right?  Now I'm an admitted Popeye's fanboi (legit used to drive to Fargo once a month just to get their chicken before they expanded to Canada), but their spicy chicken puts everyone else's to shame.

Which brings us another topic:  Spicy Chicken.

Popeye's brined chicken > Jolibee and that nasty chili-powder-dusted chicken.

Prove me wrong.

And to add to my trifecta of posts, how come nobody has mentioned Diana's Pizza in St. Vital?  Her 'za, with a Moosehead Beer crust, has won numerous international awards.

Popeyes is pretty mediocre and their 'spicy' isn't even spicy lol.

I prefer Mary Brown's chicken over Popeyes any day of the week.

Popeyes is the bomb.  I've lusted after Popeyes for 30+ years.  Every time I was down south, or in TOR, it was straight to Popeyes.  In case you guys don't know, ask for packets of honey with the biscuits and make sure every bite has honey on it.  Seriously, there is nothing better.  Get half a dozen and kill your waistline.

Has Diana's changed owners?  I noticed a couple of years ago the staff weren't the same ones.  And I've had disappointing pizza there many times in a row.  Undercooked, toppings not right, etc.  Maybe just bad luck, but my hunch is they sold out.  If I'm wrong, I'd love to be re-educated.  I'm so used to perfect pizza from them that anything less is disappointing -- especially at those mortgage-the-house prices!

What location did you visit? I've been to the Henderson Hwy. location a few times and it's been great every time. The spicy tenders were nicely spicy.

Mary Brown's is also good but different compared to Popeyes.

I like Mary Brown's over Popeye's. But I would go to Swiss Chalet be either of them.

Popeye's gets their spicy chicken from Dun-Rite.
