Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver Duron Carter is facing a marijuana possession charge, according to a report from radio station CJME

According to the story, court records show Carter was arrested Feb. 1 in Saskatoon and is scheduled to appear March 27 in Provincial Court

Guess that is another reason he wanted to stay in Canada. Do they actually still arrest people for weed??

Apparently we do. You have to be an idiot towards the cop busting you though. The cops don't want to lay the charge anymore, but will if you act like a dbag towards them when they come to confiscate it.

Trying to bring your stash through an airport qualifies Carter as an idiot.

On the Ridefans forum, they are bashing the Saskatoon Police Service instead of Carter. What kind of idiot would think it would be okay to try and bring weed through an airport. Besides, it may become legal in July, but its not legal yet.

regardless where it is legal...you cant bring it cross borders even tho it's legal where u are headed..or came from

Also he got arrested in november here for a controlled substance...no mention of what substance was tho...yet...odd how that was kept so quiet...and multiple offences don't bode well for a foreigner working in a different country

Wait, there's more...

http://leaderpost.com/news/crime/riders-receiver-duron-carter-charged-with-marijuana-possession

Saskatchewan Roughriders star receiver Duron Carter faces drug possession charges in two provinces.

Carter, 26, was arrested in Winnipeg on Nov. 25 for possession of a controlled substance. A court spokesperson was unable to reveal what drug Carter allegedly possessed.

This news comes after it was revealed earlier Friday that Carter was arrested in Saskatoon on Thursday and charged with marijuana possession.

?We can confirm there was an incident last night where Duron Carter was charged with marijuana possession at the Saskatoon Airport. He was released from the airport and given an upcoming court date,? said Director of Media Relations and Football Communications for the Roughriders Ryan Pollock in a statement.

Saskatoon police were called by Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) officials just before midnight Thursday. CBSA agents stopped a traveler and searched his bags and located marijuana. Police attended and arrested and charged Carter.

Carter hasn?t yet made an appearance in Saskatoon Provincial Court. His scheduled appearance is set for March 27.

Carter?s next scheduled appearance in Winnipeg Provincial Court is Feb. 15.

The Roughriders signed Carter to a one-year contract extension at the end of January.

Carter led the team in receiving yards during the 2017 campaign on his way to being named a West Division and CFL all-star and the Roughriders? most outstanding player.

So, they hushed up his arrest in Winnipeg... how did they manage that?

So, the Cannabis Football League is living up to its name, and we can see why Carter was happy to sign with the Riders, and pass on the NFL looks and drug testing...

I wonder if this will land him on the no fly list. Just monumental stupidity by Carter. Flying drugs into our country is not a joke even if it was just weed. Drug smuggling....can anyone say passport revoked?

The courts don't report this to anyone, and if Carter doesn't come clean is doesn't show up unless someone looks for it.

Hmmmm...please correct me if I am wrong, but I believe a "controlled substance" is something like cocaine.  I don't think marijuana is a "controlled substance", is it?
