I know it's early, and many players need to be signed yet,  but I have been asking myself what my expectations are for the coming season.  So for me, I expect Mr Nichols and the team to ...at the very least get us to another 12-6 record or better for the season...and another home playoff game. Maybe even the western final game( finish first in the west), And on top of that I expect a playoff win whichever our first game is in the playoffs. If Nichols and the team can accomplish that much everyone keeps their jobs for 2019 and we win it all for sure that year.......if not this year, of course I would take a cup this year as well. Just not expecting it.

Anything less than hosting a divisional playoff final is a step backwards.

For me, I don't care so much about record, but I would set 10-8 as the absolute bare minimum. I care far more what happens in the playoffs.

I expect to take whatever record we have (again, don't care too much about the details), make the playoffs, and make it to the GC game.

My expectations for the 5th year of the regime:

Home playoff game - I'd like us to win more than last year, but this is my overall expectation.
At least one playoff win - If we don't get that this year, it's time for a regime change.
Better backups - Losing a couple of starters shouldn't kill our season unless those guys are Nichols and Harris at the same time.
Give up less yards and less explosion plays on 'D'.
Draft well - At least one starter/rotation guy and no, I don't mean a special teams player.
Better scouting - At least a couple of new difference makers who aren't FA acquisitions or from other CFL teams.

With the fact we are keeping Hall as DC, I expect us to have a decent offence but our D will be very similar to last year, not able to prevent teams from racking up the yardage again. The only hope for the D is for the Bombers to bring in some stellar FA LB's and DB's.

Yup let's just assume that nothing will change and we will give up 600 yards in the air on D each night.....  Huh Roll Eyes - get over it already!

or maybe Hall and company will figure things out and we will see some fresh faces on the back end.

A defense costing a 12-6 team a season, then proceeding to retain the defensive coach isn't exactly easy to move on from.

I expect to win the Grey Cup.

I also expect that if they fail to win a playoff game that MOS will be fired. Just making the playoffs is not the measure of success any longer.

Agree 100%. The same old ain?t gonna cut it this year. They have to take the next step or I?m thinking O?Shea will be gone. And then we get to start all over again for the umpteenth time. Yay!?!?!?!

No Offense but what a goofy topic.  Nothing can be predicted at this stage.

1.) the CFL is a one year league.( any team can win the Cup )
2.) any team can win the Cup, just ignore the salary cap. ( big deal, that a team loses a draft pick.  If you have just won the cup, do fans really care that you don't have a draft pick the next year)
3.) until free agency has come and Gone, how can you say what your team will look like?  Winnipeg for instance may end up losing the core of a bad Defence.  ( not that that matters.) Who cares if any of those guys walk? Probably thousands of other Americans not in the NFL, as good or better than what manynCFL teams have.  Just look at the guys all teams sign who become "stars" in the CFL.  Without the CFL these guys would likely be working some dead end job.

So let's try this in three months.)

Expecting GCn17 to change his name (soon), existing and new recruits to be capable to win their positions, scouts to bring in talent to compete and win some positions that need strengthening, a defence that is balanced to win games and continue to win turnover battles.

If the above is attainable, we will be in the Grey Cup.

The question was, "What are your expectations for the Bombers in 2018". If you don't like what I see happening so be it I am not going to lose any sleep over you not agreeing with me (you are after all a Rider fan first). If you think keeping the same DC and only changing two assistant coaches will suddenly make our defence capable of winning the cup, good for you. Until they possibly pick up some stellar players in FA on defence the results will be the same. In case you don't realize it, giving up huge yardage in a game means the opposition is controlling time of possession limiting the time your offence has the ball and the ability to put up points. You can drink the koolaide that MOS spews about giving up huge amounts of yardage meaning nothing, but make sure you roll up the legs on your overalls to avoid getting splashed with MOS's "Koolaide".

Wow are there some HUGE expectations around here.  Be in the Grey Cup or O'Shea is fired?  Really?  If we go 12-6 next year and lose the semi final again.  He won't be fired.  We'll be frustrated I'm sure.  But it wasn't that long ago we had a losing record for 80 years in a row or something like that.  Calgary just lost the last 2 Grey Cups.  FIRE DICKINSON!

If you are not shooting to win it all....especially after a 27 year drought and 5 years into this current regime , then your expectations are far too low...Every team has the mindset to win it all and the cup winners usually do...why should we be any different...

I've been moderately happy with the progress of this team over the last couple of seasons.  That being said, this year, my expectation is a Grey Cup appearance at the least.  Is it realistic?  With a few key additions and a relatively healthy season, yes.  If we go at it like last year, and accept that the 70% good overshadows the 30% bad to the point where we don't make any serious moves to correct the bad, then no we won't.

I also don't care about the record. The difference between games is often a bounce one way or the other. I feel confident that we will have a good enough record to get into the play offs. That's all that matters.

I do expect a play-off win. For that to happen, our D will have to improve. There's no way around this. Our Offence has shown itself to be capable for the past two years. Our ST's has been winning games for us. The difference has been our inability to stop the other team from scoring against us.

If we do lose in the play-offs, or if we take a step back this year due to our defense, then yes, there should absolutely be significant changes to the organization.

I agree with this whole statement. I would expect some significant changes next year if we fail to win at least one playoff game or if we fail to make the playoffs all.

The question was.. "what are expectations for the bombers?"

GC or failure to me, coaching is another topic.

West Semi final win, west final loss, or east final win. Anything less than that is not acceptable. Improve the defence, add a piece at receiver, get a decent backup qb and we can achieve that, or better. Will we actually achieve that? I'm honestly not sure. My confidence in this regime took a bit of a hit last year.

Honestly, for me, it's just more of the same. Another 12-6 or 11-7-ish record and a playoff berth. If we keep stringing together winning seasons the playoff success will come. The streak is mostly a product of losing seasons and missed playoffs appearances. In a nine-team league, consistently making the playoffs will win you few Grey Cups sooner than later. We were pretty banged up going into the playoffs last year, but this year, maybe we'll be healthy and the teams we play won't be. Keep punching that ticket and we'll be just fine.

record doesn't really matter, as long as you make the playoffs... after that, it's more about who is playing the best ball at that time, and a little luck...

Get a grip people. Grey cup or bust, failure not an option , you're setting a pretty high bar. Wonder what their expectations are in Calgary after dominating the league like they have only to come up short in back to back grey cups

My expectations are simple--get a decent line backing and DB corps, get another top end reciever--this is what I expect management to do, failure to do this is not an option.

I expect us to have a winning record, be competitive in the west and be in the top 4 in the league.

I hope we remain healthy and win 2 playoff games and get into the grey cup, winning it would be a bonus , but heck, calgary gassed 2 chances, so I don't 'expect' it

Other teams are making some substantial changes striving to win, we haven't made any 'big' moves. Given the shortcomings in the lineup we have, expecting to win the grey cup is not being realistic

My expectation for this year is a Grey Cup win. Anything less will be a season unfulfilled. That's not necessarily my measure for satisfaction but it is my expectation.
