That could mean anything, and if it is contract related, it's probably just part of the negotiations.

Remember Lamar Durant's recent tweet, where he tweeted "Free Agency".  Then a couple days later he re-signed with Calgary.

He was an all star and his stock would go up because of it.....we had 3 all stars in the secondary and our stats were horrific aside from our takeaways and interceptions.  Our coaching might be suspect however it looks, like the Bombers are standing pat...once again.   Fatal flaw imho!

Heath was a do or die type player. If he was not intercepting balls he for the most part was pretty invisible. He did get beat for some big plays and whiffed tackles. He is a veteran which is hard to replace when you have rookies starting. But if there is a better player in free agency, Im ok with not re signing him. Will not be the end of the world. Im sure with Hall still around it wont matter who is back there giving up 400 yards per game in the air anyway.

I'm sure Walters has a number in mind, and that number might not be as high as another GM trying to win this year.

Can't fault a guy for wanting to get paid, TJ certainly has earned that right.  But its a business.  We can't give everyone what they want, unless what they want is a reasonable salary paid to play on a great team. Wink

Invisible you say? He was tied with Randle for 4th in DT's with 64. If he had 3 more tackles he would have been 2nd.

I think you underestimate his value in 2017. However, I have no idea what his financial expectations are or how realistic he sets his market value. Extremely likely he plays in the CFL for someone in 2018.

Whether it's the Bombers or not I don't know. IMO we can't afford to lose him and we've had difficulty actually finding rookie import talent at DB.

I foresee us starting Alexander, Walker and Parker ( 2017 PR ) if we lose Heath and / or Randle.

I cringe at the thought of loosing Randal or Heath and then convulse when I think if this happens, we'll start Alexander and Walker.....we'll get severely torched in 2018!!! It will be disasterous!!!

Hey Mr. New Scout....can you find us some quality DB's???!!!

TJ, Get your *** back to Winnipeg.  We are trending upward, everyone else is going  the otherway.  Sign a one year deal, win the Grey Cup,and then ask for the moon!
You are our best DB, and should be paid like it, and you will.

Sorry to say, but he doesn't need another year to "ask for the moon".  He has been a league leader in INT's the last two years, and an all star, even in a year he played with 2 different teams.  He's earned his "ask for the moon" status, unfortunately.

One thing our D accomplished was scoring points.....one of the reasons we ended up scoring that many points!  Heath has had a lot of pics in both seasons.....being an all star ups the ante.   If he goes his replacement will likely not be as good or a long shot to be as good.....at best.  He?s got the upper hand at the moment....good for him....maybe not so good for the Bombers....unfortunately!

Give Heath the money unless it's off in crazy town.  If he's so far offbase then let him sit in FA until he realizes no one will pay what he's asking, then come crawling back to WPG.  If we had LB/DB corps consisting of a bunch of Randles, Leggets and Heaths, we'd have won the '17 GC.  Gotta keep the performers.

These kind of tweets are good news imo. It means that the player and the team are talking. I suspect that Heath will be signed soon. It always concerns me when you hear nothing about a player re-signing because if Heath wanted out/or the Bombers had other plans that's what we would hear.

Trading a Nat all star or a QB that is a pending FA might be a trade that can be made, but a Int, even an allstar, not so much.

You might get an obligatory but obscure neg list player or something if someone really wants negotiating rights. The only way such a trade would be made is if Walters wanted to someone a favor because he could get almost nothing in return.

Closest example I can think of is when Walters traded for Chris Randle from Calgary, when Randle was a pending free agent.  He wasn't an all-star at the time, but had high potential.  I believe the trade involved the Bombers and Calgary swapping mid-round picks that draft.

He?s not a break the bank type player. Pay him fair market value and if he doesn?t want to be here, then move on. I?m sure Walters has a number where he?s walking away.

Walters has signed a number of top players so far to "Winnipeg" contracts, at east contracts that were fair enough that the players forewent the FA process.

Now that the defensive coaching picture is defined, and Younger is on staff, TJ has a solid knowledge of what to expect.  So his decision will be a lot easier to make, one way of the other.

Walters is a good SMS manager. I have bones to pick with him is some areas of his management, but I trust his ability to assess TJ`s value and to get him signed to that number. I strongly believe that TJ wants to remain a Bomber. When guys go public with contract frustrations it`s because they want to stay. That gives us a edge imo.

For sure. We have the advantage of being their current team, and having a high probability of them getting playoff money.

According to the collective bargaining agreement, Canadian Football League players are entitled to $3,400 for participation in the divisional semifinal, $3,600 for playing in the final and $16,000 for winning the Grey Cup (the losers get $8,000).

that was 4 years ago...not sure if it has changed...assume it must have

You're probably right that it's harder to find a good HB like Heath (or Hefney is another great example, circa 2011), but to find an actual shut-down corner is probably equally hard I would argue.

Both gotta be re-signed. That tandem was one of the league's best in 2017.

I can't see Walters letting either walk and I'm now sure how much people should be reading into a tweet at this point, especially since Heath has responded to it.

Losing both would be disastrous for the secondary, which is an area that already needs to be shored up.  Adding two more new faces to that unit would not bode well.  I would keep Randle over Heath if I had to choose, Randle is all in, whereas Heath tends to only get involved in a play if he has to.  I've noted numerous times were he trots up on a "tackle in progress" and does not participate unless he has to.
