What was Montreal thinking. 5-6, 160lb. forward as there first pick. Montreal already has some of the smallest forwards in the game.

They obviously didn?t watch the blues big bodies bang and bash their way to a cup!! 5 ft 6, yikes but I guess, Theo fleury had a decent career and the game was a lot tougher back then

I dunno he's small but he's projected to be an elite scorer, a mini ovechkin they are calling him.  I don't think it was a bad pick at all

Pigskin

Time will only tell. Montreal has made some bad moves over the last few of years.

Strombone retires... can't wait to see him behind a mike instead of a mask...

His retirement will cost Vancouver 3 mil cap hit for the next three years. The Panthers will take a cap hit 1.1 mil for the next three years also.

81.5Mil cap... and so many teams already set for $83 mil... cutting 1.5 mil isn't really hard, but sighing a FA for $1.5 mil less might be...  do the FA's now get a haircut off the 11 or 12 mil contracts they were expecting?

Glad we got rid of him.

Pigskin

How would you compare Trouba to Meyers? I would says Trouba is a little better. Meyers just got paid $6 mil per. I think I would file also.

Talk about a home town discount .... Kevin Labanc, an RFA, re-signs a 1 year with San Jose for a mere $1.M.   Kid had 17 goals & 56 points as a Rookie.
Guess he's helping the club & then banking on a bigger payday next year.

Blatant cap avoidance, there is a signed contract for next year in the drawer for the real amount.  Although there aren't any big contracts coming off the books after next year, so I don't see how this helps much...
