Anger over a non-call definitely seems plausible. :-\

Well, then he must have been concussed, because linesmen can call penalties...
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

And neither do you.  What possible reason would he have for attacking a linesman?

I never claimed I did, did I? You did.

I watched the replay and gave my opinion based on it. He appears to shove the linesman for no particular reason. It looks intentional to me. I don't know what motivated him and I never opined on that at all.

That isn't quite accurate, actually.

True Blue

Linesmen can call to many men at least.

I dunno but McJesus put on a show

He might end up costing the Oilers their first overall draft pick.

Wideman suspended 20 games.

Glad to see the NHL got it right!

No surprise there. Intentional or not (it's really not relevant), he shoved a linesman. That'll always end badly for the player.

An appeal is expected so it's very likely the NHL started high knowing there is a possibility of having to shave off 5 games.

Quote40.2 Automatic Suspension

Category I

Any player who deliberately strikes an official and causes injury or who deliberately applies physical force in any manner against an official with intent to injure, or who in any manner attempts to injure an official shall be automatically suspended for not less than twenty (20) games. (For the purpose ofthe rule, ?intent to injure? shall mean any physical force which a player knew or should have known could reasonably be expected to cause injury.

Good luck with that.

I agree he is up against it, and I think it was "deliberate"...however, that could still be argued to an appeal board.

Lots of $$ at play here, and Wideman does have a few things on his side, so he would be foolish not to give an appeal a shot.

NHLPA is filing an appeal...

Interesting (but not surprising) that the union disagrees "with the League's decision to suspend" and not the length of the suspension. I realize that it's their job to defend their guy, but let's be realistic here.

Firstly we are after a playoff birth.

Don't worry he will help Jets EARN a first overall pick ;)
