Oilers with another comeback win. That's five in a row which is apparently a playoff record. Love it when Vegas loses, too.

Canes with a big road win, too.

Utah Mammoth

QuoteUtah Mammoth.

That is the permanent brand identity of Utah's NHL franchise after a 13-month process that included four rounds of surveys and more than 850,000 votes, the team announced Wednesday.

Mammoth was the fans' clear favorite in the final round of voting, according to the team. The name -- deliberately singular, in an all-for-one spirit -- honors an animal that lived in Utah during the last Ice Age about 10,000 years ago.

The primary logo, called the "Mountain Mammoth," includes the snow-capped Wasatch Mountains on the crown, the outline of the state of Utah in one of the peaks and tusks curving up to form a "U." The rallying cry is "Tusks Up."

The Mountain Mammoth charges across the front of the home jersey, while an updated "U-T-A-H" steps down the front of the away jersey.

The colors will be the same used by the Utah Hockey Club during the team's inaugural 2024-25 season: Rock Black, Mountain Blue and Salt White.

It's a Mammoth improvement from the Utah Hockey Club.

I think Utah Mammoth is quite good.

The mascot should be fun...the hats.... all kinds of possibilities.

The NHL has reportedly suspended Panthers minority owner/executive Doug Cifu indefinitely after posting some unhinged nonsense on Twitter following the Panthers' Game 4 win on Sunday evening.

Confirmed: Panthers vice chairman Doug Cifu suspended by NHL over comments on social media

Having watched the stuff that gets let go in these series...

I don't understand.... Example, players are allowed to stand inside the crease... other teams goal. And running into the goalie seems to be ok.

Launching into another players head and neck....  Ok.

Tripping.... Sometimes called, sometimes seems to be ok.

On and on.

Fans are ok with it if it's their team doing it. And it gives the impression that the league favours certain teams... last night... a two man advantage to the capitals..the second penalty was weak.

It's unfortunate .... the actual hockey is good.

And Wilson,Capitals...what an embarrassment for the game.

The officiating has been bad, but these guys are fast, and are learning how to skirt the rules. So the near calls and near misses are more apparent, especially on replay.

The old "marbles in the pocket" still seems in effect, ticky tack calls seem to get made if the calls have been lopsided.

But EITS *HAS* to start calling down for flagrant offenses and attempts to injure, intentional or not.  And suspensions need to be handed out, especially for hits to the head and into the boards.  Does someone need a broken neck for them to clamp down?

There needs to be a modernization of reffing, EITS can and should make calls, and even blow plays dead from above.

This is the worlds fastest game, for sure, and the most skilled and exciting game.  The reversion to the worlds most bloodthirsty game, while pleasing to the beer league buys, is not a great move.

I'm not against good clean hits, guys getting rocked because they have their heads down or are puck watching, but guys getting slammed into the boards from behind with no time on the clock, that's not "old time hockey", that's criminal assault.  Literally.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

The missed elbowing call to Marners head was a joke the other night, these have to be made or else retalitory type hits like Domi did at the end of the game happen. He was sending a message to the refs and Panthers--you don't call it, we'll take care of it, you hit one of our stars with a blatant head shot, we're taking one of your star players out. Cost him $5k but I m sure he'd do it again in a second if it happens again.
