Well, we do know one thing: Mafia will keep a lot of guys many here want gone.  Probably half, or more.  And I'm not saying I disagree with Mafia, I'm just saying don't be surprised when it happens.

Management will have a lot to say in that regard. They don't just defer to the coaches on everything. I think, on personnel, they will defer to the coaches decisions/recommendations until proven otherwise. However, management also answers to the Board of Directors and the Board is fiscally responsible to maintain a viable and stable financial situation for the organization.  In that sense, they need on-field success and fans in the seats.

If Wade Miller or the Board feel that success in in jeopardy they will usually takes control and recommend or even demand changes.

Chain of command though.  Board would influence WM, he'd influence KW... But a big directive/change coming down from the board would probably look more like "blow the thing up" rather than "tweak this player for this player".

I'm not sure the board has ever done that in Mafia era.

Quote from: ModAdmin on August 27, 2026, 04:49:01 AMOf course I made generalized statements, i.e., what we are facing ahead of us and a general comment that we need to take a hard look at where we are going.  Future decisions about personnel, coaches, etc. are likely not to be made before the end of the season.  So yes, my comments were generalized.

Your comments were opinions based on a series of assumptions:

Take a deep breath.  None of us know what decisions will be/should be made down the road.  We can opine or assume - nothing else.  Reading your comments above, you seem to be suggesting it's all carved in stone.

As usual I don't agree with your take on anything here.  My comments are based on a lot more than just assumptions no idea where that is coming from.  No depth breath needed.  I come on here to voice my detailed opinion and asked for yours.  That's ok you don't have to do it.    We all can comment / guess on the decisions to be made down the road.  That's exactly what I did.  Nothing I say is carved in stone, no idea where you got that from (I asked for you take as collectively we have a better idea).  As suggested before, it doesn't seam you are understanding my content on intended purpose of my posts.  I provided a detailed opinion on a lot of things about the club, players, etc.  You made generalized blanket statements that I think could be clarified with more detail.  Ah well, how she goes.

If Vaval was the extra DB on passing downs, like a second FS/Rover, I think he'd be spared the extra snaps of a full time corner, and be effective due to his closing speed.

Drop a DL/LB and insert Vaval.

Well yes and no. I think we did do that somewhat last week. The concern is if Nichols can't finish the game, then Vaval becomes a full time starter on defence.

That's the risk reward posters spoke about not wanting him to be in a dual role situation.  The obvious solution would be to add in a DB from the PR. Texada seems to be the only choice in that regard.

The risk is how well can Nichols play and is he forced to the bench due to his injury? If that happens is it early in the game or at the end.

With Travis Theis running the ball Nichols won't likely last the game, not sure what his injury is but getting smashed by Theis is not going to help it.

Corollary, do you want Vaval on the receiving end of a Theis hit?

No, I want any one of the 4 LB's on the field to take care of the RB before he reaches the DB's!

Pimpleton is another returner that is a primary receiver in Ottawa. Berryhill in BC gets reps as a receiver but only in rotation.
