Ouch!  Burn!

(I still like AH, so I won't agree, but A+ for creativity!)

Quote from: BBRT on October 11, 2025, 05:22:55 PMYour prejudiced is really showing here. I am not a Rider Fan by any stretch but they are in fact the best team in the West and maybe overall. If you look at their talent levels across the board it is easy to understand why they are at the least, the best in the West. Whether that puts them in the Peg for the cup is yet to be seen. But give them their dues. They have a lot of talent across the board and have a good coach. Their recruiting in 2025 was far superior to what the Bombers accomplished.

None of what you said is false, except for the "best team overall".  They rely 100% on their D.  Their O is 100% a "game manager".  They have 1 trick they have perfected to 110%: the dink & dunk.  They are not "explosive" in any way.  They have 1 good REC: Johnson, and he's not even Schoen/Demski-level.

I think they lucked into so many wins this season.  They often got teams when they were weaker.  They didn't have to play the best teams 3 times like we did.

I think SSK gets smoked in the post-season, whether by Rourke or VAJ or whoever (even us).  If they make the cup, and Alexander is healthy, him & Ento will rip them a new one.

But they did have great FA, did build maybe the best D, do have a strong aggressive HC, and have an OC that perfected what he was given.  In that sense they outdid WFC in every regard.  So yes, hat tip to them.  We'll just have to see if that big D and oversized-wrestler RB can win the big one for them.  Just like we bet it all on the "no pressure" D, they bet it all on their strengths.

Quote from: Blue In BC on October 11, 2025, 04:18:41 PMTurnovers are reviewed automatically. This was potentially a turnover on downs so the " spot " would have been a necessary evaluation.

No, the spot would only be auto-reviewed if command noticed something egregious.  Even in a turnover situation they aren't going to strictly examine every little thing.

Thus why it took the challenge to get it looked at.

Quote from: Tecno on October 12, 2025, 02:56:09 AMAs for my suggestion, yes it would work because it is external padding that acts as crumple zones to slow the impact / spread it out.
There has to be plenty of smart people that have already gone down this road. I think player safety just has to get serious about it and insist on something more being done. Building crumple zones into vehicles and outfitting them with airbags has saved countless lives and numerous serious injuries. I'm sure we can spare many an athlete's brain from future harm by insisting something more be done. Maybe start a petition? Appeal to the commissioner?

Quote from: Tecno on October 12, 2025, 02:50:17 AMYa, but that would trigger almost never.  Would have to work some other way.  And any DQ also has to come with a big 25Y penalty.  It has to hurt both the player AND the team in that game at that moment, so that teams start self-policing.

Infractions should accumulate through the season, knock a QB out of a game once and you miss 2 games without pay, do it twice and your season is over.
