Noted that Wally Gabler recently passed away at 80 years of age. Primarily with Toronto as quarterback, Wally played one season with the Blue Bombers. Condolences to his family.

Sorry to hear that. He didn't have much of a team to lead here in the dark years between Bud Grant and Jim Spavital. It did generate a lot of buzz when we traded for him though.

Not an earth shattering move acquiring Wally ...I remember him well though...He was one of those qb's that always seemed to be on the verge of being a big winner but never quite made the grade....The guy we traded away for him was a star ...Dave (THE KNIFE) Raimey.... TO got the better player in that deal....

Condolences to his family

Yeah but Wally was a god send. He came along when I started to go to games. It was painful watching John Schneider and Luther Selbo.  Gabler seemed to come in and give the franchise hope.
