Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: VictorRomano on September 16, 2026, 03:42:03 PMHow much of Willie's success has been due to Ceresna taking some of the heat off of him?  If you're gonna doubleteam Willie J every play (as teams did most of last year), you're leaving Ceresna 1-on-1 all the time this year.....I'm liking the switch from Vaughters to Ceresna....

I haven't noticed Ceresna getting great penetration he often gets stood up on the los, most of his sacks seem to come when the QB runs within his grasp on his way out the door. I suspect Cam Lawson causes more direct pressure with his bull rushes than Ceresna does.

Is he getting double teamed more and taking away double teams on Jefferson as often?

Ceresna didn't make my list but should have, he is likely nicked, slowed down a bit but has been very good and an upgrade but Vaughters is good too.  He has helped Willie 100%

I haven't watched Lawson, was hoping he was playing well.  Jake was hot early.

Hard to tell, unless you look for Ceresna's number it's easy to go an entire game without noticing him. I would credit the improvement of the D-line to an improved quantity and quality plus Younger's adjustments rather than the efforts of a single player.

I study the lines for my game report. The whole dl is very good. Ceresna often gets double teamed, and he is also strictly doing his assigned duty which includes stopping the run and qb escapes, so that may hinder his sack stats.

Lawson is exceptional. Gets lots of push and is often the first to pressure. Willie is as good as ever, and takes a lot of double teams.

Fletcher is amazing for his first real season. Reese is also a pleasant surprise. Even gatkouth is making an impact the few times he's on field. And schmeck seems to have a specialized role.

And can't talk about the dl without mentioning Jones, who is on the line so much he might as well get an honorary dl ribbon. And he's very effective.

Best dl in years. Just too bad the best ols are pretty darn good. It's tough to get through.
