Quote from: Blue In BC on Today at 02:25:14 PMI'm not giving up on the player only the SMS. No single player SMS is responsible for a teams early exit. When we moved on from Harris and a larger contract, Brady was on an ELC. That was good for both the SMS and succession. RB's have short careers. He's not that old and doesn't have a long list of injuries. His performance is still top level but we are seeing more of the " DNP " reports in the past seasons.

I never suggested it was time to move on from him.. My only issue is the cost of his contract.

However you fail to see how wise decisions about salary and player retention are part of building a total roster. That includes drafting, free agent acquisition and finding good new talent on ELC deals.

That's the cumulative failure. Collaros, Bryant, Nichols, Kramdi are all also overpaid.

I don't really care if Brady is earning $300K or $350K if we're winning but we're not. He earns $100K more than the # 2 RB. Bombers have always had very good RB's. Often on ELC contracts.

Good teams have been finding more new young talent on ELC deals than we have in recent years. It's also a transition where you can't just add a bunch of rookies at one time.

OTOH we have some players that have aged out that likely will be gone in 2027.
Thanks for clarifying your position.

I don't think Kramdi is overpaid.  A solid vet Cdn LB that has shown his versatility.

Yes time to move on from some vets.  Brady and Kramdi shall remain as lifers if I was in charge.

I like Kramdi but IMO he's overpaid. As a SAM that is not usually a Canadian position so in that sense he was a ratio breaker and possibly worth more.

A safety is not a ratio breaking position and not one that claims as high an SMS. Now he's not in a traditional per se, but I think that's still an issue. He's tied for 5th highest SMS in the CFL @ $180K.

Including the SAM spot, there are 6 X 9=54  players in the secondary / SAM role. Is he really one of the top 5? Teams pay more for Canadians and to retain veterans for continuity.

Still though, that's a bit hard to swallow.

The realistic expectation is that we ponder next year...We are simply not good enough defensively and sporadic on offence...That won't get you very deep into a contesting position...Along with players who are past their 'best before' date our coaching from the headman on down is very suspect...To make things worse I can't remember any in-season adjustments of any kind that may have salvaged the season....Watching other teams do exactly that, was very frustrating for this fan....Being realistic our best chances for next year should start NOW

Kramdi isn't safety and will move back to LB once we find a good one.  Likely Allen imo.  Kramdi at LB is worth the price tag imo.  The little premium he gets is even less drop in the bucket than the extra cake Brady gets.  The good ones get extra cake, the great ones get icing.

If you think Kramdi is hard to swallow at $180k, what about Brady at $300k!?!? You talk about being over paid!!!

Kramdi is not worth the price. Neither is Nichols at 180,000. All these overpays add up, and eventually have an impact on restricting new signings or raises for players you want to keep. We've already been playing Smith at SAM, and I'm not sure Kramdi's better. Take the savings from the Kramdi and Nichols overpay, and not overpaying Zach next year, and you could affort a good Canadian lineman for when Neufeld retires, as well as a #1 receiver which we lack.

I would retain Kramdi, try to get a better price.  Walk on Nichols.

If Smith progresses, does present a good option.  Either way we are not letting him walk.  Agree on Cdn OL but I would spend money on a FS, DB or HB ahead of receiver, but we need that too.  We have a long list of needs.  Make some great points.  I would be surprised if we moved on from Kramdi, but he might follow the cake.

I want a mix of prosects and studs at LB.
