That's about all I know, haven't watched a game since Barry Sanders retired.

Star in the making, lock him up
He was being picked on early but as Hamilton found out when they targeted him 10 times and only completed 3 passes that may not be a good idea.

Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on July 15, 2026, 04:26:19 PMWilliams said he started tackle football at 4 in Florida, he has at least 10 year head start on his Canadian counterparts. Not that that's such a good thing, common sense says it's not. Anyone here sign their kids up for football, if so at what age?
I played tackle football [because thats all there was] when I was about 8 years old. I played for Earl Grey in the 60's. Never had a concussion.

Earl Grey Community Center or school?

My memory is that tackle football was based in the community centres in the 60's. I played within the river heights community centre league, but there were multiple teams.

From FB, not fact checked

CB Major Williams - He's been targeted more than almost anv other corner in the league. but has vet to allow a touchdown and also has a league-high eight forced incompletions. He also has not missed a tackle in the pass game this season.

IIRC he did give up a TD in one of the early games. Might have been against the Stamps.

Ditto. Played in the River Heights CC league as a 9 and 10 year old. Blew my knee out playing soccer as an 11 year old and parents wouldn't let me play football anymore  ???

Quote from: Stats Junkie on July 15, 2026, 08:58:39 PMKeep in mind that when he says safety he is referring to American football with the Free Safety & Strong Safety. Historically, those positions have translated more to the Defensive Halfback position in Canadian football rather than the Safety position.

Ya, so you'd think they'd plunk him at HB... but we're "full" at HB, and desperately needed a CB.  Yes, this means he can probably "do it all".

And he's not puny either... he might also be a good SAM.

Quote from: GOLDMEMBER on July 15, 2026, 04:37:50 PMHe continues to get picked on quite a bit. He is improving but gets beat on the reg still.

He said in the interview that with the huge Canadian field (especially width) that teams are going to make plays.  And he's right.  You just have to do the best you can.  When BLM throws a perfectly placed pass to Kenny 60Y down the field, often there's nothing anyone can do.

Nah uh, already enough of a log jam within the LB group, plus he only weighs 190.

Moe Leggett, probably the best SAM I've seen since re-going to games, was only 188, and looked even skinnier.

You are right about not needing another SAM though  ;D  ;D  Still, nice to know he can probably do it if required!

You sure?  He was pretty skinny when he first arrived playing Safety, but by the time he was done I thought he was pretty jacked playing SAM.  Speaking of Moe, anyone know if he still lives in Wpg?

Just going by the cfl player's page.  And even if he got beefier, he's still a skinny body type -- that underlying frame doesn't change.

Moe said pretty bad things about Mafia after leaving, on video if you want to search it out... not sure why he'd hang around Winnipeg, or Canada.  I think it was 2018 or early 2019 he said Mafia would never win a cup because they were doing things wrong.  Oops!
