Quote from: Tecno on February 25, 2026, 10:03:22 PMThere's always way more DPs we get than roster spots.  Maybe this year we can strategically eye picks 1-4 and if there's someone we want/need trade some of these extra picks to move up a couple of places to ensure we get who we want.

I would say our needs in terms of 1st year starter/allstar are: DT, OC, OG, REC.  DB (CB) would be gravy.

I think they picked up Elgersma with their extra pick last year, not a bad strategy to pick an NFL bound player that may have a delayed arrival.  For every new Natl. they add they have to delete a Natl. from the roster.

I agree with your priorities. But you left out more Canadian linebackers on special teams to pad our depth chart further at linebacker  :D

We added 3 LB's, 1 receiver, 1 DB and 1 OL onto the roster in 2025. I'd rather go for quality over volume this year.

I don't know whether picking Elgersma at # 18 was a good decision or not. He may have been available later. Looking at all the picks made ( besides ours ) I'm not sure if there was a better choice at that pick.

Looking at our current roster, it doesn't appear we have that many spots open except on the PR or trade value. To that end we need to make the most out of top 3 or 4 picks.

Nope.  We were very fortunate Elgersma fell to us.  No way he's there a few picks later.

We've picked players heading back to uni and players who take PR spots that do not affect the AR, to take a look at them.  Its never a bad thing to have too many NAT prospects in camp, you never know who's going to jump out.

I can see going after OL this year instead of REC and LB... but round 1 and 2 will be best player available.

Using the free pick as a flyer that might not come in for 5 or 6 years is not a waste, IMHO.  Because if they do ever show up, Man, that's a big one.

Rourke, 15th overall.  Covington, 5th round, 43rd overall.
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

I don't know I agree with any of that. However as I suggested, I don't recognize any of those chosen after Elgersma that might be making a difference NOW that might have been important in 2025.

Free pick or otherwise it was still a 2nd round pick and those players are important.

Even if Elgersma shows up eventually he may not succeed. I think the interest is that he's a Canadian QB but there are hundreds of US QB's that we can add to our neg list and / or TC rosters TODAY. Paris Shand was drafted right after him and is now on the Argo roster. He comes to mind.

I guess we'll see how he does in UFL if gets a chance to play or gets another NFL opportunity.

I won't hold my breath. Who exactly do you think was going to jump at the chance to draft him besides the Bombers?

Due to rule changes regarding draft picks, those returning to college no longer qualify as non counters in TC as happened in the past. That has an impact.

This looks like someone spent about 3 minutes on it. No mention of all the players riders lost on the D-line, and then claim they benefit from "continuity in the trenches".  :D . I think the riders will still be good, because they seem good at scouting new american talent, probably due to Paul Jones.

Bombers are too low IMO. Lost nothing significant other than Vaughters, and added a ton, not just Ceresna and Broxton that are mentioned, but also  Tim White and Nield to upgrade receivers, and Moxey to solidify a major weakness last year at corner. Plus Condell for Hogan. I'd have us tied for 3rd with BC, behind Montreal and Sask.

Have agree with your assessment.  There will be a lot to sort out at TC but we will be better than last season.

Ya, bunker, that power rankings is total butt.  So many things wrong.  Everyone's anointing BC, kinda just feeling it's "their turn" or something.  BC is always very hit & miss, because their QB is hit & miss.  And he'll probably get injured anyhow.

I would expect 3down to do a better, more thought out one.
