Throw Long Bannatyne

Quote from: TecnoGenius on August 05, 2025, 08:21:27 AMCould the new OL signing hint that we've now decided one of Vant / Ran can never be the answer at OT?

Do we usually carry 3 IMP OL on PR?  Pretend we want NAT at LG for a moment.  Assume Stan/Lofton are the desired starters.  That leaves 3 IMP PR... from my memory we usually only keep 1-2 IMP OL on PR?

The 2 NAT PR OL (normal AR "jumbo") is normal for us.

If we're positive now that one of Vant/Ran cannot ever be a "desired" starting OT (and I think this is true), then do we cut them in FA, or now?  My opinion is Ran can play RT, but neither can play LT.  That would mean Vant is the odd man out.  However, I think Vant/Ran is desired at LG for this season, so that might hint we keep everyone until FA.

This all seems premature to me, I believe they have their future O-line in house and will continue to shuffle bodies about till the end of the year to keep them in the groove and on the payroll.  Unfortunately there's no room to squeeze Vibert onto the roster so he can't debut on the push team, beyond him the pipeline for Natl. O-linemen is dry just as Kola and Neuf are approaching their expiry dates, they are low on replacement stock.

Quote from: Blue In BC on August 05, 2025, 03:07:34 PMIt's early but that might suggest we aren't planning to go 3 import OL.

The numbers aren't in for week 9 but the week before Wallace had the 5th best PFF across all guards and his 62 was only slightly below Neufeld's 65.3. Dobson smoked everyone (78 . 8 ) but after him most weeks you see top end guards around 65-70. Wallace isn't coming out if is floor stays consistently decent.

Fair enough. It would be a lot if we change both OT's this week with Bryant and Lofton to also change our LG. It's not impossible but would be another reason to make a different choice with the last DI.

I'm fairly convinced Cooley comes out and is replaced with Peterson.

All of this reinforces my thought of an increased roster size if affordable. We're having to decide to take good players off the AR.

I wonder if we'll have any interest in Dozier. He has experience at safety and elsewhere in the secondary. With Parker on crutches he may be gone for awhile.
One game at a time.
