Title: Dondre Wright
Post by: Blue In BC on July 17, 2019, 04:50:13 PM
What does anybody remember about his playing time in Montreal?

IIRC he played at both safety and CB at various times. He seemed to pile up the DT's and ST's in 2018.

That should suggest he has decent speed and a willingness to hit.

With Briggs going onto the IR I expect he might make the AR as soon as this week. They're aren't exactly many other choices likely to come off of either IR or the PR.

He's 3" shorter than Briggs and only 5 lbs lighter. I'd think a little faster overall.

Will we expect him to see more practice reps at safety or is their a chance he might be looked at for depth at WIL as he's here a little longer? His skill set might fit into either role IMO. At the very least initially he should be able to contribute on ST's.

There hasn't been any official report on the injury to Briggs but it seemed like a shoulder issue. He could be gone for a few weeks or end up gone 6 weeks or longer.

What are our expectations? I think he has some upside.

He's just a name I recognize, I don't recall ever developing an impression of his playing abilities.

Checking some information I see he was drafted 20th overall in 2017. Started all 18 games in 2017 but rarely saw the field in 2018. Of course Montreal was a very bad team in both seasons. Why he started in 2017 but not in 2018 or why he was released is not known.

They changed ratio.

They changed ratio.

At safety? Is that when they changed to Dozier at safety?

In 2019 they added NI's Lokombo and Loffler so that may have made Wright less valuable on their roster I suppose.
