Looking forward to this game. If the Bombers practice Monday it will be interesting to see who is on the field.
I expect replacements for Woodbey and Dixon. I don't think we will see ND10 out there for at least a day or two. Hearing ZC8 had a bit of a knee issue, but not enough to stop him from playing.
Reese or Fletcher can come in for Dixon. Bouliane is the only LB we have on the PR.

We don't really need another LB and we have no need to replace an import with a Canadian.
What's our injury report for the game?
Woodbey, Dixon (didn't catch this one), how bad?
Who we missing.
Hammy won't be easy.
ZC8 17/28 233, 1TD, 1Int.
Jones 8 DTs
Kramdi 7 DTs
Ceresna 5 DT. 3 Sacks.
TW12 5/6 60 yards.
TN83 3/4 52 yards.
OW80 2/7 52 yards.
Clark 2 STs.
Teams: Outstanding. MM has them dialed in.

Dixon may have pulled a hamstring which can bother a player for an extended time. Hard to say but I expect he misses at least one game. To that end Reese seems more like a replacement as a DE than Fletcher as a DT.
OTOH, getting to BLM is more about collapsing the pocket from the DT's than outside pressure. He's not going to escape to the outside.
That would leave us thin though at DE so that's a little iffy a choice.
Replacing Woodbey will be much more a different choice since we don't have a direct replacement for that role on the PR.

Thanks I remember that now, was hoping it was a cramp. Did he not return?

He didn't return and it could have been a cramp. If that was the issue players are usually able to return after a series or two. Might have been preventative or game situational. We'll see.
If he does miss some time and they activate a PR DL then we might see if Harris is considered again.
There was some discussions earlier about players declining PR spots. So it's possible he was ranked ahead of those we choose for the PR. Or he may have been ranked lower and not offered a spot.
Regardless, we might now have an open spot on PR and he was with team in TC, so game ready and familiar with the playbook if needed.

Yeah he was rubbing that Hammy, sure hope its not too bad. I don't mind Reese. Can you tell me more about Fletcher I don't remember much of his pre season reps.
I feel like I saw Dixon sitting out in TC at times with a hammy. It may have been bothering him for a while already and is just playing through it.

Fletcher looked like he could have some upside. He was more of a DT type but many of our DL play inside and outside at times. He missed some TC, got released and brought back when healthy.
To that end I'm thinking Reese would be next man up if needed and a newbie to the PR might be Harris as a DT type.
All of this is compounded by also losing Woodbey as an edge type player and overall depth in our rotation.
It's a short week so Dixon might not practice at all and still be on the game day roster. It's another TBD and we already have 6 or 7 players on the 6 game IIRC limiting some options.

We did hear reports of that during TC and that can be very limiting for a player trying to get a quick jump off the LOS.
Game speed / violence is greater in games then TC. I hope he's ok but I won't be surprised to see him miss at least one game.

One of the early 1st H tackles on Zach his legs/feet got landed on awkwardly. When Zach got up he immediately did a hammy or knee stretch, trying to determine why it was wonky or to get it loose.
Seemed fine the rest of the game. Demski looked more beat up, but toughed it out and seemed effective except for that very first run play where he was supposed to get ahead of Brady but almost got steamrolled!

They likely add another Dlineman with Dixon iffy. They may not add another linebacker with Woodby out and instead give more reps to J.Smith. I wonder if they add another DB given that we were giving defensive reps to Jake Kelly, who struggled imo.

Ayers got a few reps on D during the game. I'm guessing Woodbeys role can be filled by Ayers/Smith. Getting Texada into the lineup to avoid Jake Kelly getting reps would be preferable IMHO.

Question is who comes off when Texada comes on? I thought the 3 man front triggered the second safety but didn't notice that formation much in game #1, likely Kelly came on when Cam Lawson needed a rest but still doesn't explain who came off.
I look forward to a schematic app that shows in real time player substitutions and the positions they assume, the technology obviously exists to tag and track jerseys or helmets. Could be a pop up window in the corner of the screen, access when wanted.

The expectation is that Woodbey comes off with his role absorbed by our other LB's. The other choice is to add another DL from the PR but Dixon was nicked so not sure if that means both DL on the PR come on, or the DB choice.

How do you make room for the 2nd safety, 3 D-line or 2 LB's with Kramdi playing at the top of the box?
All speculation until the boys file out on the field on Monday or Tuesday.
Long range weather for Thursday. 16 rain for most of the day, should end around kickoff or shortly after.

Ayers gets more reps on defence. He was on the field often early in the game. It's his chance to step up do well. The discussion has said we may have to use the Canadians more as well including possibly Cadwallader.
JSK would have been that great replacement but luck didn't go his way.

Ya, but per capita. Do the stat per snap...
I'm pretty sure Cadwall has only seen a handful of real snaps outside of PS and garbage season games. Woodbey was getting regular rotation in some games last year.
In fact, if I had to guess, Cadwall might have the higher per snap ratio!
Still doesn't mean we should give him heavy rotation though. I'm his biggest fan but I'm not sure he can even be as good as Gauthier was on d.
Guys, we don't want Cadwallader anywhere near the every down defense unless you want to enjoy more first half in Calgary run defense.
If you're bound and determined to cheer on a Canadian in that role the most realistic option is Shay with a slightly reduced positional focus. Will is first and foremost a run stopping linebacker if you need to strip it down to its core function.

Was thinking the exact same when the stats were posted, not a fair comparison
Gauthier likely a pretty good comparison who was very good against the run. I like what I have seen from CAD but I don't have the details on what his strengths are. Must be faster than Gauthier was but I can't remember him early career either.

Not an every down player but I'm just saying he could see some duty in rotation. The roster is what it is as of today.
They may bring back a player previous cut and because it's so quick after being cut that it won't impact him being on the same page. After this game we've got a bye so that's when I expect longer term decisions to be made.
I'm not suggesting Stuart either but comments were made that he could play multiple positions and is athletic.
Generally the " fix " is most likely on the roster today for this game. That seems like Ayers as next man up,
I'll be happy if they find a better immediate solution.

Ayers didn't seem to have an impact on defence but the team continues to use him in rotation. Since we don't know what his assignments are specifically it's difficult to understand per se. I didn't see him make mistakes but watching on TV is not as useful as watching live etc.
He seemed invisible and that can be a good thing for a defensive player.
All that said, I am not tooting his horn either. He hasn't become a starter or primary rotation choice. That would have been JSK in 2026. We have several Canadians that haven't been put in that position yet and that could go either way.
I haven't seen anyone make a better suggestion for this week. Let's see how the coaches deal with the injury to Woodbey.

I'm not sure we want to see Smith be a starter before he's had a chance to get some reps on defence. He might end up there as the season progresses but is that time now?
Griffin taking on Woodbey's role makes sense but potentially just moves the problem elsewhere.
I see we added a global and import LB to the PR. Oyelolo ( global ) has been here before and we had PR spots for a global choice. IDK we needed to bring back a choice from 2021 and couldn't find one released across the league from TC 2026?
It did seem we choose not adding a 2nd global to the AR over a Canadian choice. Otherwise Munier-Bailey would still be here.

Hoping we insert Fletcher for Woodbey as a di
For whatever it's worth from Facebook: Woodbey did not practice due to a calf issue. That would be a much better outcome than an achilles even if he spends some time on the IR. Fingers are crossed he doesn't end up on 6 game IR with a season ending problem.
He's a player maker with a " unique set of skills ".
Will be interesting who makes the AR this week and makes up for the reps from anyone that can't go
Some really interesting discussion here.
Kelly shouldn't take reps om D unless we're up by 3 TDs in the 4th quarter. He does nothing but get lit up.

I know that but my point was I thought greater depth at DE was more important than at DT. We're replacing Dixon who was an edge guy with an inside guy.
That changes the rotation from 4 players to 3 players. I wouldn't expect Fletcher as much outside but perhaps I'm incorrect. IMO he's a power rusher and not a speed / edge player. I had the impression that Reese was more that type.
Based on the team we're going to play, it makes sense. BLM is not going to get outside as much as Rourke for example.
So we may see a DL rotating on and off the AR depending on who we're playing. While that's not the best approach but our choices are all rookie imports.

Good to see Fletcher getting an opportunity to play, hopefully all 4 rookie Imports get a fair number of games this season to show their stuff and by the end they should know the best 2 or 3 to hang onto. Guessing Willy intends to play another 2 seasons at least, so his replacement is not even contemplated yet.

Re-read what I said about the 4 versus 3. Many felt that Gatkouth isn't ready yet, but that's a TBD. It may be that I under estimated Fletcher's ability to play outside as well.
Fletcher's an inside guy. Honestly, I think that extra DI spot is fine either way (DE or DT) but DT might be better. With how much we line up linebackers at DE on passing downs (and the fact Gatkouth can play is needed) , the extra tackle is nice to have.
To bad about Clarke, he had a pretty good game on teams.

Ceresna ran out of gas on that last Stamp drive and took himself off the field, Lawson probably played every snap without rotation which is dumb, ineffective and dangerous to his health. The DT's need rotation, if they're not going to dress Kornelson who is at least more effective than Gatkuoth, then it makes sense to dress Fletcher over Reese.

Yep, two DTs is just not feasible.

Well, maybe Ceresna is able to convince MOS we need more of a rotation.
One thing is sure, if the backfield plays the same as last week bo will slice them up.

Really?? Now I'm going to have to check.
I thought it was hicks that got gassed shortly after halftime. It's like he didn't even exist in h2.
Ceresna was making huge plays even in the 4th. If he left, my bet is either he tweaked something, or cgy locked him out with tempo o.
Quote from: Blue In BC on June 08, 2026, 08:36:23 PMFor whatever it's worth from Facebook: Woodbey did not practice due to a calf issue
Well, one could consider Achilles as calf lol. But let's assume it was really just calf. That's a weird one for that type of reaction. If it got tight or inflamed or cramped, that's usually a thing that happens when you're not doing anything, like after the game.
When did the injury happen? Right after halftime or a long cgy drive?
Very weird. But super good news.
But then... Why did we add 2 odd choices for lb? Something is not adding up.
Quote from: Throw Long Bannatyne on June 08, 2026, 05:20:21 PMI'm surprised Demski isn't on that list he took a heck of a hit to his upper thigh, could have bruised the bone.
I thought it looked like knee or ankle. He got tackled funny. Regardless, he looked 100 percent later in the game.

I thought the injury happened during the last drive in a non contact situation. Tomorrow we'll get all the IR updates.
It seemed odd that they put Dixon on the 6 game IR right off the bat, but didn't do that with Woodbey. What that means I don't know but it gave a glimmer of hope.
