Will attend Mondays practice to see which players are back and who is lining up where.

Great. That will be helpful as the roster shuffles around some paperwork issues. The biggest question will be health of some starters and how that impacts decisions.
at least we play stamps once before orimalade returns. with him and hutchings that is going to be a tough defence to play

Pretty surprised about this.

MOS has been coach for how long now?
I think we can reasonably expect that he's going to give guys as much rest as possible at this point.
Looks like Orimolade and Hutchings will be playing Friday, together with Hicks its probably the best dline in the cfl...big test for our revamped oline to start the season

wow. didn't think orimolade was ready.
that is a formidable d line. interesting to see if we can get BO going
protect ZC at all costs
The first couple regular season games are going to be a bit sloppy regardless. Might delay roster moves until tomorrow also but not totally sure when it's required. There's usually a bunch of factors.

I hear what you're saying, but I also remember our offense was dreadful to start the season off. I am hoping we have execution and timing down, but I doubt we do given the new bodies on offense. guess we'll see wont we
Odd. Calgary was listed lower than the Bombers on the early season projections but are still listed as expected to win on Friday.
Time for us to stand up and smack them in the face. Bombers by 10.
Week 1 is always a crap shoot as offenses haven't had time to get in their groove and defenses have new faces trying to figure out the system they play. all 3 games are coin tosses

Have to be concerned about how well a new O-line is going to be able to protect Zach from the best D-line in the CFL. Pre-season is over Zach better save those bombs for another day and make like Trevor Harris getting rid of the ball quickly before trouble arrives.

The only thing we saw of Zack this year was him getting it to White asap. And now he'll have Pokey too.
I'm very excited to see how it looks.
I'm setting the over under at 5.5 sacks in game 1 :'(
Hopefully we have some quick-hitter plays ready to go. We need to slow down opposing d-lines in other ways than just relying on the OL to hold up.
Demski and Vaval at full speed.
Clercius is on the limp. Gatkuoth also on the limp but practiced.
Everyone OL practiced today. Elsbury with most of the snaps.
Derek Taylor🏈
@DTonOBFirst day of Bombers practice before the season opener...Tyler Elsbury at centre with the 1s early on. Tui Eli is dressed, coming back from injury.
Nic Demski, Jonathan Moxey and Jake Ceresna are all working today.

Most of that is encouraging. Eli sounds questionable and could be a GTD.
Very impressed with TE13. The kid is so composed in the pocket. Very strong arm, just needs to dial in his touch on the long balls. He looks better every practice.

Some have suggested the new OL won't need time to gel but like you I have my concerns. We have some decent talent but its about coming together, building trust, understanding assignments and our new offense. I am cautiously optimistic but need bumps along the road. Heavy sets might be an early solution if not overused.
Disagree about check downs. Bombs and runs is all we need. Zach doesn't play like Harris and I'm thankful for that, sling nasty or don't sling at all imo. That said Harris has found incredible success doing his thing. Have to see how our OC calls it. With time, that deep ball will be there but like you said, the hogs are key. Will be a very telling game if we have our preferred OL. If not, will be an evolving story.

At home, we have a lot of changes. I believe they got it right. Will be a good game. I have no clue what the outcome will be but took the Stamps on the pickups. Agree beating them my 10 would be freaking amazing, a wee bit of a neck stomp early. Won't be easy, never is.
IR
I believe the oline will determine the outcome of this game. Give Collaros time and with the tools he has we will be fine. Of interest we have 8 new starters in our imports with the vets having seen very little playing preseason time
Well, the first injury report is encouraging.

Just Eli dinged or should we read more into this? I would love to see IMP C. I've always wanted to see an IMP C. No one does IMP C, thus there should be no bidding war every time he re-ups.
I thought Elsbury looked great in PS games. Other than that I know very little about him. I would love to get a full game of film on him!

Well, except Allen likely ACL as predicted and might be gone all year. Luckily, he was somewhat "expendable", though with a definite hit to our depth.

Eli is coming off an injury. I think that's the only reason Ellsbury is in.

You could clearly see this in the second preseason game.
I am quite hopeful that he's our next qb.
We'll see if coach Condell dials back the bombs away, for something easier on the new line and the old QB.

Eli was moving well. Took part in most of the drills. I was also happy to see Schmekel coaching some of the new players on the DL.

Yes, I would also like to see some quick hitters. And maybe a few more screen plays. Maybe get Daniels the ball a couple of times.
Is Bonfire doing a pregame show with Walby for this one?
Quote from: Pigskin on June 03, 2026, 02:40:06 PMYes, I would also like to see some quick hitters. And maybe a few more screen plays. Maybe get Daniels the ball a couple of times.
To be honest, I wouldn't anticipate Daniels catching the ball more than 8 times this season. Maybe 10 targets.
The main thing we will be using him for is blocking on the run. He will be very effective as a lead blocker on sweeps if Condell decides to get creative with misdirection and wide runs!
The one place he could make a couple grabs is on the RPO where he runs into the flat. I'd love to see him as a redzone threat, but we'll see...
Im grading Condell on if they take Zach out and put the back up in on any 2nd and 3 or any down inside the opponent 15 yard line. "Best qb in the league" shouldnt be coming out
Also grading Condell on 2nd and short playcalling. It was an issue with Buck and especially a disaster last year.

It wouldn't surprise me considering MCI has touched the ball less than 5 times in 2 years. I can't see Daniels on the field all that much, he'll only be out there when they pull off a receiver or in the redzone for added trickery, If they don't play him much he'll telegraph the play call every time he trots onto the field, as they did when they used Janarion Grant as a receiver.

Was Schmeck mobile? Going into his 4th year and they haven't gotten much playing time out of him, can't recall how many times he's been on the 6-game but can't see them putting up with it much longer. If Kornelson can't fill his boots, they're going to have to make a ratio change elsewhere. From what I observed in the 2 pre-season games he was disrupting and made more of an impact than Gatkuoth.

Yes, Tanner was mobile. He's walking well, but he wasn't running. He had no knee brace, or OK taped on his body. He was working with a few of the new players on pass rush technique. On the other hand Gat had OK tape on his left calf. From his ankle to the knee.
I think a few are being a little to hard on Gat. Hasn't play Canadian football in a while. Late to to TC. Jumping up a level in football. I am going evaluate him every 6 games to see if he improves. He has the size, and quickness, he just has to figure out how to get more pressure. Also playing with our starting D might open up some holes for him.

Disagree, no other player has been handed a rotational spot above others, if he's the ratio fix to spell off Lawson, he's going to be out there at critical times across from Willy, just because they have limited ratio options. What was the point of giving Anthony Bennett a free ride for the entire 2023 season, he never progressed and 3 years later he's retired and out of football. Playing a player that hasn't earned his spot just because of the ratio hurts the team and should be known as the "Sam Hurl move".
I do not care for anointing high draft picks as special, that's just hype and marketing, they are still rookies that typically have a lot to learn before they become useful players.

Yeah I'm not sure why some have their noses out of joint with him. He's a rookie coming back from the NCAA, certainly not an Ekakitie or Bennett situation where either the measurables or the production (or both) make them extremely questionable.
Clercius, Ball, Novak and Allen out. No word on whether 1 game or 6 game yet. Eli & M. Williams GTD. Elsbury impacts the ratio obviously if he needs to start. Texada would come in for Williams in theory.
Very glad Ceresna, Demski, Moxey are all healthy and ready go!

That's what some on the forum do, judge heavy and early. Agree all. Should know more by labour day. But I give him 2 full seasons to completely evaluate. Patience usually pays off for higher end talent. Hope we don't rush him, but he is welcome to rush the QB lol.

Except most other teams do! Most teams start their 1RDP in year 1, and lots of 2RDPs too.
Either we totally suck at 1RDPicking or we always go for the "can't start now, but higher ceiling later" guys. It's very questionable IMO ... because we are all sore from all the busts.
