Starting tackles Dejon Allen, Jarell Broxton return for B.C. Lions against Elks
By 3Down Staff -October 16, 2025

For the first time since Week 3, the B.C. Lions will have both of their starting offensive tackles in the lineup when they host the Edmonton Elks on Friday.

Prized offseason addition Dejon Allen will make his return at right tackle after going down with a torn bicep on June 21. The 31-year-old, who was acquired via trade from the Toronto Argonauts this offseason, won the CFL's Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman award in 2023 and was viewed as a potential difference maker for B.C.

Also back on the blindside is left tackle Jarell Broxton, a serious candidate to be named Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman this year. The 32-year-old has allowed just eight pressures in pass protection all season, but missed the team's last game with an arm injury. It marked his second absence in three weeks.

Exiting the lineup to make room for the pair of stalwart tackles are Chris Schleuger, who has started at the majority of the season at right tackle and will now be a healthy scratch. Rookie Brandon Yates has been returned to the practice roster, with Kory Woodruff kicking back to his usual spot at left guard.

The B.C. Lions (9-7) will host the Edmonton Elks (7-9) at BC Place Stadium on Friday, October 17, with kickoff slated for 10:30 p.m. EDT. The Elks are coming off a win over the Blue Bombers that kept their playoff hopes alive, while the Lions were on a bye week.

The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune in on 880 CHED in Edmonton and 730 CKNW in Vancouver.

Edmonton Elks rule out Canadian DL Jonathan Kongbo against B.C.
By 3Down Staff -October 16, 2025

The Edmonton Elks roster will remain relatively intact as they continue to fight for their playoff lives on Saturday against the B.C. Lions.

The lone change to the lineup is the loss of Canadian defensive lineman Jonathan Kongbo, who has been ruled out with a rib injury. The 29-year-old has recorded six defensive tackles and a career-high four sacks in 16 games since joining the Elks. He will not get a chance to rekindle his acquaintance with a Lions organization that he was briefly a part of in 2023, before being released and claiming the team did not have a winning culture.

D.K. Bonhomme will return from a wrist injury and replace Kongbo in the rotation. The second-year pro has been a force on special teams this season, recording 14 tackles in 15 games.

The Edmonton Elks (7-9) will visit the B.C. Lions (9-7) at BC Place Stadium on Friday, October 17, with kickoff slated for 10:30 p.m.

Both these teams look so much better than us. The Bomber's are painful to watch.

The one silver lining is EDM being tough for BC proves that our EDM loss wasn't just because we suck.  EDM is truly finding their groove now.  Just too late.

BC does look hard to beat, though.  Rourke is finally getting comfortable, and their weak-ish REC corps is stepping up.  (I'm at 11 left in 4th so I don't know the final outcome, but I can guess)

That flag for a hit OOB on a rail-speeding Leake return was so bogus.  Dude's going 30mph and squeaking 25Y down that rail and the BC dude goes for a 90 degree angle hit at full speed and they ding him because he can't be in The Matrix and turn around in mid-air.

What they refs are saying is you can only tackle a speedy rail guy by trailing and catching, or coming from in front.  Because if you come in from the side the dude can always see you and step out on purpose to get 15 more.

Thanks BC for sealing us in a playoff spot!  Thanks EDM & Cody for sucking so bad.  Good picks, eh!

We're in, now figure it out, WPG!
