Second-round CFL Draft pick Nate Beauchemin returns for Montreal Alouettes on Thanksgiving
By 3Down Staff -October 12, 2025

The Montreal Alouettes will be making only minor tweaks to their lineup ahead of the annual Thanksgiving Day clash with the Ottawa Redblacks.

Rookie Canadian linebacker Nate Beauchemin
returns to the lineup after sitting out the last eight games with a hand injury. The reigning Presidents' Trophy winner as the top defensive player in U Sports was selected 14th overall in the second round of the 2025 CFL Draft and has recorded six special teams tackles plus one on defence in seven games played.

American rookie linebacker Caleb Johnson will also make his CFL debut in a depth capacity. American defensive end M.J. Sherman has been demoted to the practice roster, while rookie Canadian linebacker Riley MacLeod is listed as a healthy scratch.

The Montreal Alouettes (8-7) will host the Ottawa Redblacks (4-11) at Percival Molson Stadium on Monday, October 13 with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m. EDT. The Redblacks were eliminated from playoff contention with a loss to the Saskatchewan Roughriders this past week, while the Alouettes were on a bye.

The weather forecast in Montreal calls for a high of 18 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 1200 in Ottawa and TSN 690 in Montreal.

QB Dustin Crum to make sixth start in Thanksgiving audition for Ottawa Redblacks
By 3Down Staff -October 12, 2025

The Ottawa Redblacks hope that quarterback depth is something they can be thankful for this Thanksgiving, as they give Dustin Crum another crack at the starting job.

The team announced earlier this week that franchise pivot Dru Brown has been shut down for the remainder of the season with a knee injury, allowing them to fully evaluate that position ahead of impending organizational changes.

Crum
has gone 2-3 over five starts this season, securing as many wins as Brown has. The 26-year-old native of Grafton, Ohio, has thrown for 1,609 yards, six touchdowns, and two interceptions this season and carried the ball 71 times for 393 yards and 11 scores.

Additionally, Tyrie Adams has been activated for this game and will serve as backup ahead of veteran Matthew Shiltz on the depth chart, raising the possibility that he could see snaps. The remainder of the offence remains unchanged, save for returner DeVonte Dedmon dressing as a depth running back. Right tackle Drew Desjarlais is listed as a game-time decision with a back injury.

Defensively, Ottawa will be missing a couple of key starters due to injury in safety Bennett Williams (knee) and weakside linebacker Lucas Cormier (head). Other depth pieces sitting out include American defensive end Chase McGowan (calf), Canadian defensive end Kene Onyeka (hamstring), and Canadian safety Charlie Ringland (quad). American linebacker Jamie Pettway and Canadian defensive back King Ambers have been returned to the practice squad.

Davion Taylor
will get the start at linebacker, with the recently acquired Jonathan Jones and Canadian Zachary Philion dressing for insurance. Behind them, Deandre Lamont will roll to safety and be backed up by Canadian rookie Eric Cumberbatch, while Mark Milton returns to field halfback after missing last week for personal reasons. Cameron Lockridge will make his first career start at field corner, while Canadian Deionte Knight dresses for depth along the defensive line.

The Ottawa Redblacks (4-11) will visit the Montreal Alouettes (8-7) at Percival Molson Stadium on Monday, October 13 with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m.

Wow, OTT in full "2026 tryouts" mode.  Tons of guys off, and tons of nobodies on.

This should be a beat-down of epic proportions.  There is literally zero chance of this being a trap game.  Alexander will be able to score at will and Ento will probably have 4 INTs, assuming OTT dares throw the ball.

Edit:
Haha, bookies have MTL as 14 point favorites.  You can win 6X your money if OTT wins.  Those odds are even worse than the TOR GC odds when everyone thought Arbuckle would implode.  At 1.12 payout it will be hard to make money on MTL winning!!  That .12 could be destroyed by Alexander and Ento being hurt on their first snaps.

Davis Alexander took a hit to the head (helmet off) while running a QB sneak. He stayed in for 2 more plays before being removed.

Herb Zurkowsky reporting that Alexander went to the dressing room with the team doctor. I don't think they have the medical tents in Montreal.

Ottawa is being somewhat aggressive with a couple of 3rd down gambles and 2-point convert attempt.

Alexander back for second half.

Bad bounce for Ottawa on the kickoff.

You could see the blocked punt coming before it happened.

Horrible 2nd half for Ottawa. A number of penalties, especially on special teams.

Dubois with the rough play DQ.

I thought Tyrie Adams was going to get some significant playing time.

Why Adam's isn't in is beyond me. Crum hasn't done bad but you're going to lose this game gets Adam's some reps so you know what he's got. This concept is beyond dyce, whose days are absolutely numbered in Ottawa

TSN with 12 minutes left in the time slot cuts straight to NFL pre-game junk rather than do a CFL post game show. The NFL game is still more than 3 hours away.

They also missed a field goal attempt, didnt show a RTP penalty, had the wrong time showing on the score bug near the end on the game, were late numerous times to show there was a penalty flag. Suitor had to ask who was playing at quarterback.....

I guess they were all more focused on eating turkey.

I am glad though that Montreal were successful in hitting the Ottawa defender with the kick off.

Hopefully, the Bombers will be watching for it when they play the Als.
