Toronto Argonauts rule out Anthony Lanier II, change offensive line against Hamilton
By 3Down Staff -October 3, 2025

The Toronto Argonauts have made three changes in the trenches for when they host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Saturday afternoon.

Defensive lineman Anthony Lanier II has been ruled out due to an ankle injury. The 32-year-old native of Savannah, Ga. has recorded 30 defensive tackles and three sacks over 15 regular-season games this year, setting a new career-high in tackles.

The former Saskatchewan Roughrider will be replaced in the starting lineup by Ricky Correia, who joined the team in July. The six-foot-four, 325-pound native of Fresno, Calif. has made nine defensive tackles in seven career regular-season CFL games. The 23-year-old played collegiately at the University of California where he recorded 105 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one fumble recovery.

The Argonauts have also made two changes along the offensive line as rookie Hampton Ergle has been promoted from the practice roster to start at left tackle and Sage Doxtater will start at left guard. Ergle made one previous start this season at right tackle in Week 3, while Doxtater missed the team's last four games due to a head injury.

Brandon Kemp, who is dealing with an adductor injury, and Darius Ciraco, who has been moved to the one-game injured list as a healthy scratch, are both out. Kemp started last game at left tackle before leaving partway through the matchup due to injury, while Ciraco dressed in a depth role.

The Argonauts must win all three of their remaining regular-season games in order to have any chance of making the playoffs this year.

The Toronto Argonauts (5-10) will host the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (9-6) at BMO Field on Saturday, October 4 with kickoff slated for 3:00 p.m. EDT. The Tiger-Cats got crushed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this past week, while the Argonauts lost a close one against the B.C. Lions.

The weather forecast in Toronto calls for a high of 25 degrees with a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN and CTV in Canada and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on Ticats Audio Network in Hamilton and TSN 1050 in Toronto.

Hamilton Tiger-Cats get Jamal Peters back, make left tackle swap against Argonauts
By 3Down Staff -October 3, 2025

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats will have reigning All-East Division cornerback Jamal Peters back in the starting lineup when they visit the Toronto Argonauts on Saturday afternoon.

The six-foot-one, 220-pound native of Bassfield, Miss. missed last week's loss to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers due to personal reasons. The 28-year-old has recorded 43 defensive tackles and five interceptions this season, his second with the Tabbies.

Hamilton has also made a change along the offensive line as Jordan Murray will start at left tackle in place of Brendan Bordner, who is uninjured. Murray has been a healthy scratch for the past two months but will be charged with protecting Bo Levi Mitchell's blindside. The 28-year-old native of Coppell, Texas has played 29 career regular-season CFL games with the Tiger-Cats since his rookie season in 2021.

The Tabbies have also moved Canadian defensive back Patrick Burke Jr. back onto the active roster with 2025 CFL Draft pick Mack Bannatyne being demoted to the practice roster. Burke Jr., who is in his third season with the team out of Wilfrid Laurier University, has made five defensive tackles and 18 special teams tackles over 32 career regular-season CFL games.

Hamilton has also promoted American defensive lineman Jose Ramirez, who signed with the team recently, to the active roster. The six-foot-two, 252-pound defender was a sixth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the 2023 NFL Draft. In a corresponding move, fellow defensive lineman Michael Kendricks has been placed on the one-game injured list as a healthy scratch.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats (9-6) will visit the Toronto Argonauts (5-10) at BMO Field on Saturday, October 4 with kickoff slated for 3:00 p.m. EDT. The Tiger-Cats got crushed by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this past week, while the Argonauts lost a close one against the B.C. Lions.

Arbuckle with his arm in a sling now.

O'Leary-Orange is the one who got away. He reminds me of Stoddard in that he looks good whenever he gets a chance to contribute. Otherwise, just a solid backup.

TSN with Doug Flutie in the booth talking about anything but the game. Flutie stops midsentence to call the Greg Bell TD run then offers his analysis about the blocking on the play.

BOLO is solid but not spectacular, always seems to drop a few easy passes but good that BLM continues to trust him.

Taylor Powell must be pissed, no matter the score Milanovich won't give him any playing time.

And I just don't get the thinking there. Your team is up , no chance Toronto is coming back, so why not give Powell some snaps to get him some playing experience, as well, BLM could get hurt in a nothing game and then what, Powell has to come in. I just don't know why you minimize the chance of injury to your #1 Qb, while also getting your #2 Qb some reps.

Could be they're hiding Powell, hoping no team comes calling in FA.  Who knows, they may be paying him decent money to stand on the sidelines looking pretty, I'm sure they don't want to lose him but BLM might play till 40, the way he's going why not.

Arbuckle may have a separated throwing shoulder from the looks of it on the weekend. Even a lower grade will put him out for the rest of the season now that the Argos are out of the play offs.

That's an unfortunate turn of events for him.

The Argos ran out of QB's, makes me wonder why they dumped Cameron Dukes so early. That said Jarret Doege seems like a smart QB that will benefit from these late season starts and working with Dinwiddie. I'm jealous.
