Title: Postal Strike
Post by: Pigskin on September 26, 2025, 07:50:41 PM
Time for some big changes. Since we stopped the junk mail, we might get mail once a week. And, Most of that is junk mail with our name on it, which we really don't need.

Much like the CFL, Canada Post has an unsustainable business model.

And much like the CFL, Canada Post's leadership ignores the issues and comes up with braindead solutions.

It's almost like there's a common theme playing out in much of the corporate world these days. Ghouls run the show.

i would be very happy with once a week mail delivery with all junk mail removed.  hire kids again to deliver the flyers like i did when i was a kid.

daily mail delivery is an un-required luxury.  i still have home delivery and i probably only check my mailbox once a week anyways.

the problems and solutions are not complex.

The junk mail creates a revenue stream for the post office. Delivering once a week would reduce labour costs. That may or may not be an equal or greater off set.

Delivering once a week would also reduce the number of employees so it's a slippery slope.

I'm ok with once a week delivery whether it includes junk mail or not. I'm trying to remember the last piece of actual e-mail I received. Everything or almost everything is done / received electronically now.

Business suffers from slower mail.  I send and receive my car titles in the mail.  But yes change is needed.

Postal workers have been back to work what now, 5-6 weeks. 3 pieces of mail. 2 of which are Costco flyers.
