Hamilton Tiger-Cats sign veteran backup QB Jake Dolegala to practice roster
By 3Down Staff -June 8, 2025
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats have signed veteran American quarterback Jake Dolegala to their practice roster.
Dolegala has been a free agent since he was released by the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 1. He originally joined the Bombers in September 2024 after being released by the B.C. Lions in mid-August following the team signing Canadian QB Nathan Rourke.
The six-foot-seven, 242-pound passer started one game for B.C. in 2024, completing 14-of-23 passes for 146 yards in a 33-16 loss to the Edmonton Elks.
The Hamburg, N.Y. native started nine games for the Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2023, his second year in the CFL. He completed 64.8 percent of his passes for 2,641 yards, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions. The big QB went 2-7 as a starter after Trevor Harris suffered a season-ending leg injury.
Through three CFL seasons and 29 games, Dolegala has completed 62.6 percent of his passes for 2,953 yards with 12 touchdowns against 11 interceptions. He's rushed 29 times for 112 yards and one major.
In 2019, Dolegala signed as an undrafted free agent with the Cincinnati Bengals, spending the year on the 53-man roster, but did not see any game action. He then landed the New England Patriots (2020-2021), Green Bay Packers (2021), and Miami Dolphins (2021) while earning approximately $662,000 USD.
Dolegala spent his four-year collegiate career (2015-2018) with Central Connecticut State University. He completed 57.6 percent of his passes for 8,129 yards with 48 touchdowns versus 29 interceptions, finishing with a 126.5 career passer rating while also rushing 233 times for 452 yards and 18 touchdowns.
In a corresponding move, the Ticats released American receiver Josh Johnson. Hamilton (0-1) will return to the field on Saturday, June 14 when they host the Saskatchewan Roughriders (1-0).

CFL commissioner Stewart Johnston isn't going to waste time buffering when it comes to the first major challenge of his tenure.
On Thursday, the former Bell Media executive took responsibility for the technological issues that have plagued the league's website and streaming platform throughout the preseason, promising to address the problem.

Uh-oh. BLM already in the hot seat. 1 game. LOL.
Goveia might not be as forgiving as the last guy. Making tough decisions in a timely manner is critical.
Me, I'd roll with Powell, however it's a huge gamble. Dolegala might be the insurance if Powell is a bust as the franchise guy. These moves set the team up to be able to make drastic moves by week 6-9.
Today would be the perfect day for BLM to retire to the TSN panel... Sounds like Milt will be out at least a month, and Chez/Henoc aren't good enough to be "it" for 100% of the games.
TSN picked the wrong week to
stop sniffing glue not have Dunigan on the payroll.

TSN claims they will have current players guesting and Hamilton has a bye week for week 3. With Bo living close by the TSN studios I think we will see him then.

It's the smart play. Shiltz didn't light things up. See if Crum got any better, he's had a few seasons now. And if Crum sucks too, with clearly garbage OL play, then at least they know what/who to blame and can always change back to Shiltz.
Now, if Crum lights it up with the same OL, then that may finally be the (near) end for Shiltz.

Actually one of the best case scenarios for what we saw. I thought he blew up his knee. Fracture probably means he'll back on the field well before season end.

Woah -- what a really odd way to fracture a leg. Looked like your standard MCL/ACL joint type issue as all he was doing was pretty routine blocking.
Ottawa signed former BB 1st round pick (2023) Anthony Bennett. The 6'3" 230# DE had 8 tackles and 3 ST tackles in 18 games with the BB in 2023.

Always expected more from Crum but his game just does not seem to progress, still plays the same way he did as a rookie even though he has a reasonable tool box, he's been pin holed like Streveler was. Not as if he's dumb and can't learn anything new, he has a degree in Aeronautical Systems of Engineering Technology, so he's literally a rocket scientist.

Totally agree. Looking at the play I can't see how you can possibly fracture. But since it is, now I think they really need to fine the guy who was pushing him down 30Y away from the play and past the whistle.
Clearly there was some force involved with the abuse he was taking for no reason, otherwise no bone would have broken.
CGY is really in trouble without him. Begel is like half their O just on his own, and he draws all the coverage to open up the others. He's like CGY's Kenny.
I guess there's a chance the pundits were/are wrong? Any official word from CGY yet?

CFL players to wear Canadian flag patch on jerseys
TORONTO — With Canada set to mark 158 years as a nation, all Canadian Football League (CFL) players will proudly begin wearing a patch of the Canadian flag. The addition – a first in league history – comes at a time when Canadiana and red-and-white pride are flowing throughout the country and uniting communities behind the maple leaf.
Situated on the front of the jersey near the left shoulder area, the flag will be worn on all home, away and alternate jerseys as a proud reminder of the home of the CFL, with its uniquely Canadian rules and its time-honoured traditions rooted in the fabric of the country.

As a much as I hate the Riders I feel for the dude. Seems like a good hearted individual.
BC Lions need a new practice facility. Today they are taking a road trip to Hjorth Road Turf Field so that they can practice on turf. This despite the fact that there is a turf field (Tom Binnie Park) adjacent to the Lions practice facility - they share the parking lot.
In 2024, Tom Binnie Park failed to meet CFL standards, forcing the Lions to look elsewhere. I find it somewhat amusing that Tom Binnie Park has a note on Google Maps "the turf field is very well maintained "

Yeah it's pointless. You can be all positive you want but the proof is that the only players with some success are punters or kickers.
It's just an odd way to add DI's. Quick. Name one global starter in the 5 years of the global program that isn't a kicking specialist. Noting that if the league added another DI spot or 2 we'd fill many with Americans.

Pointless would suggest no impact to the league. I'm on the fence for this program but it has brought many kickers and some depth players. On the weekend they mentioned a non global kicker positional player on team, can't recall the name, position or if a starter but they are out there but yes rare. If it was pointless the league likely would have eliminated it already. I have enjoyed watching other teams kickers with their unique style and our global depth players. I believe the globals add to an already diverse and unique league. Kicking is one third of this great league and a critical position. Globals also save the league salary dollars as I wouldn't believe many demand or are making that much. I'm not an expert on global talent and don't have the memory to list the ones I have enjoyed watching in the past. Hansen being the obvious one. He has made a decent living and career in this great league, not pointless to him!
I love this leagues dedication to our Canadian players, the community and thought the global program might be a neat idea and fits in well with my values. Didn't pan out that great but the idea of more people from around the world playing and watching Canadian ball is welcome imo. America talent is critical for the league but not the only way we can build our rosters.
Just because you believe it's pointless doesn't mean other haven't seen some value in the program. I'm not being positive, I'm stating my opinion on the matter. Please don't paint me with the position only brush. I provide a wide variety on opinions on here and have so for what a decade?

Well that's easy: Hansen. Started since day 1 for us, and now in TOR. Well, dressed. If you mean "started" started, then no GLOB has ever started ever. AFAIK
If you wanted a GLOB "dresser" who was never a Bomber and not a P/K, then yes, you got me there. Can't name a single one.

He was a rotational player and his claim to fame was a big hit on ST's. Not what I'd call anything close to a starter. 63 games played since 2019 and only 22 DT's. His value was always as an ST player. An American or global that has that as his ceiling can be easily replaced by a Canadian.
Program started in 2019 and that shows how insignificant the program has become.

Global program was initiated by the previous commish. It's intent was to expand interest in the CFL globally and that hasn't happened. Yes it also intended to expand the pool of players. We didn't need a specific designation to do that as I've pointed out many times.
I've pointed out that global players are essentially DI's. I would eliminate the specific designation and add 2 more DI's which would allow non Americans to be in that category. That's a win win which allows a global to win a spot but doesn't guarantee an automatic choice.
It would allow actual competition to include Americans competing with Australians as an example.
As it is now it's a free spot on the bingo card with essentially no competition. Most teams don't bother to add the 2nd global player to the AR at the cost of a Canadian. That's counter productive.
The Bombers have Bailey who is supposed to be a DE edge type player. We traded to move up our draft choice and he's yet to see the roster as he sits on our PR.
You should note that having 2 spots on the PR for globals costs about $1K per player per game or $36K per season. I'd say the 2nd global only makes the PR when we have a shortage of Canadians due to injuries.
Wouldn't it make more sense to have 2 more spots on the PR for Canadians? Your link provided showed only 84 players eligible to be drafted. That's all that qualify outside the US? It also mentioned that some will be drafted by the NFL.

Most of the good Globals are second pickings or rejects from the NFL pool, they end up in Canada the same way most Imports do. Many of the kickers played US college ball as did Weitz and Les Mauro.

I can't imagine any team signing him at this point. He's 36 years old and still has a 2 game suspension to absorb.
I don't know what shape he's in but by the time he could be game ready and learn a new playbook, the season will be into the 2nd half or beyond.
It would be bad PR for a team to sign him IMO.

Interesting statement, the league is hooked on heroin, but they don't really like it.
"Protecting the integrity of the play on the field is of the utmost importance and we will not tolerate players violating the CFL's Match Manipulation Policy. Mr. Lemon's suspension, which was the longest in league history, was necessary and appropriate," said CFL Commissioner Stewart Johnston. "He has taken full responsibility for his actions.
He understands how wagering negatively impacts sports and has re-educated himself on league policy. He is now committed to helping other players learn from his mistake."
Have any numbers been published to show the financial impact sports gambling has had on the league? They could explain the unexpected surplus.

That's making Dinwiddie and Pinball extremely happy indeed. The games-missed by the star QBs for each time will probably even out. And the W/L % for those games should also even out.
The funny thing is, this all could allow HAM to run away with the East! Kind of ironic and hilarious.
Hopefully we get to face MTL when their QB is out? I'm pretty sure we will not luck into "easy TOR" with no Kelly when we face them very soon. Every other team got to get the easy W, but we'll have to do it the hard way.

I don't see MOS signing other teams castoffs. I think he and his staff are going to focus on working with our existing lineup and cut down the number and frequency of errors occuring in the game--dropped passes, interceptions, blown coverages in the secondary, etc, etc...we are basically shooting ourselves in the foot over and over again, and that has simply got to stop. That's not to say there hasn't been substandard play by some, there has, hello Mr. Collaros, but if we stop turning the ball over and blowing coverages, the games would have been alot closer. I know that's easier said than done, but we aren't playing clean football at all.

Sankey wasn't an option with Bighill here. Yes, he would have been an upgrade and that would have continued, but this has been discussed ad infinitim. And Lemon, pass. Talent, but baggage.
We "recirculate" because we know the players, and as known quantities, they fit in better. Like holding onto players on the PR or IR. It is easier to accommodate them into the lineup.

Should we take a look at this guy? This would be an amazing opportunity to pick up a 1st round OL "for free". 2023 isn't that long ago. Unless OTT made a really bad mistake drafting him so high?
Our pipeline cupboard is pretty bare. 1 1st year NAT OL on PR? Yikes. This guy would already have some dev, and maybe he just needs a "real" team to level up? Of course, this all depends on him not being a headcase or quitter.

I like Hergey, fast with a good set of hands, started his career rough in Calgary but looked good last year with the Elks before injury wiped him out. Dump Mitchell grab Hergey, bonus he's a Natl!
Maybe Argos are making room for Jared Wayne, recent NFL cut as noted above. They own his CFL rights.

I see the Bombers adding Mayala to add some much needed depth at Cdn. receivers.

Still don't think picking up other teams cuts is really the best strategy.
Any of Leonard or Purifoy if they can play would be fun to see, but like Alexander, time has probably caught up with them. For a late season run, if they are in shape... Purifoy at FS was a beast

Yep, picking up cast offs is part of the game, just like FA, denying either option is an effective tool is shortening your own rope. In response MOS likes to say "we like our guys" but a lot of them guys is injured.

What do you do when injured guys come back? Always an issue. MOS likes to use our backups and PR guys in the meantime, get them reps and move them along.
Issue comes when there are too many injuries at one position, or at one time. It happens, and that's the tough call about airlifting in players. I still think they'd rather bring in late cuts of our own than other teams cuts...
Lions released Canadian OL Hunter Steward. Considering we have Lofton on 6 game IR and Vanterpool on 1 game IR, should we consider bringing him onto our PR? 141 games experience.
I might have a different view when we hear the status of Vanterpool but an experienced CFL OL is not the worst decision we could make.
If we have an injury this week, who do we have available? A rookie import and a rookie Canadian.

I was suggesting the PR. He was on the Lions PR and his opportunities are limited. As I suggested I might change my suggestion if Vanterpool is healthy even if he's not added to the AR.
It's just a question of depth and when or if we might see a healthy player soon. Lofton might be gone for 6 weeks or more so we're thin at best.

Not much more than a recognizable name for me but at 33 he's near his end and has only played for bad O-lines on bad teams throughout his career. He went unsigned through free agency this year so no team saw much value in him, despite his golden passport.

Which part of that we have 2 OL injured did you miss? Two rookies on our PR with zero snaps in a regular season game.
One one hand people are suggesting bringing in a rental DB like we did with Taylor last year. On the other hand, think bringing in a PR player is a bad idea?
If Wallace goes down with an injury this week, which rookie do you want to start in his place? A player with 141 games of experience or " fill in " your choice.
There was no suggestion of Steward having any long term role In Winnipeg. He's younger than Bryant or Neufeld and just a couple of months older than Kolo. He was a 1st round pick.

Here is his info. If we lose another OL to injury then Eli probably starts but we still need depth. Whether we think Steward would be a better starter than Eli is a debatable subject. Our DL have played against him so they'd have valuable input. He did play 33 games in the past 2 seasons.

Vanterpool sounds like he's fine. I wonder if he gets on the roster or if they're pushing their chips in with Wallace.

Lofton is on the 6 game IR so he's not going to be back any time soon. Vanterpool was practising as " full " today so that's encouraging.
I don't think anyone feels Eli is a good fit to start anywhere besides at Center. So yes it was an issue.
Vibert is a pure unknown but was a 4rd round pick so he could be part of the future. Is he any part of the " NOW " is more difficult to say. Very few rookie Canadian OL see much action in their 1st season.
Quote from: Jesse on August 12, 2025, 10:34:29 PMVanterpool sounds like he's fine. I wonder if he gets on the roster or if they're pushing their chips in with Wallace.
This week might be telling how they compare those choices.I think they only started Vanterpool when Neufeld was a GTD and depth on the AR was needed.
OTOH, we gave 5 sacks last game so there might be a reassessment. The only obvious possible changes are Logan or him but that requires something to happen with the ratio.
Allen could be added as a direct replacement ratio wise for Bond. Whether he starts or is just depth we'll see.
The restructuring of the secondary will be interesting.
I think the preferred line-up had Vanterpool in, and only injury took him out. But at a certain point, I think there's value in keeping your 5 playing together for multiple games in a row to get some continuity and we haven't had that yet.

I wasn't suggesting Vibert start, but it's not unusual for 1st year Natl. O-linemen to participate as the 6th man, Wallace, Eli and Dobson all saw plenty of game reps in that role during their first season. As for Eli, he's fine as an in game injury replacement to get by, better than playing Jake which is the only other alternative.

Vant is fine (even good/great) at OG. Vant is bad at OT. We don't want Vant starting OT.
Rand is floundering at OT also. Just like Vant, he's fine a OG, but I'm starting to think he's not any answer at OT, certainly not LT. But even at RT he's losing ground.
Since Vant/Rand and Wallace are all decent/good at OG, our real big problem is OT. Lofton is very good, but he's been nicked 99% of this season with unspecified nonsense and I see no reason to be optimistic he won't bounce around the IR all season.
We need answers RIGHT NOW at OT, especially RT. Big Stan will just have to stay healthy or play hurt going forward, as we can't even properly fill RT, let alone the far harder LT.
And I'm not even daring to go into "next year" talks, which are even more dire. Need to win RIGHT NOW before we can worry about 2026. If Lofton can get back in and stay on field, we'll be perfectly fine, if not, it's panic button time.

Can the dude play OT? Then hire him yesterday and start him at RT tomorrow. Forget the PR.
If he's just another NAT OG (dime a dozen for the non-allstars) then we really don't need him. He won't be much better than Wallace, and we can always start 3 IMP OL.
There's also Rice, who can play RT (did for MTL for half a year+), but I would say he's no better than Randolph at that position, and thus also not an answer (though would make good and flexible depth).

This. The DB situation is now dire because Bridges was a bust, Parker hurt, Bonds season-ended. Only one of those things was losing us games. Now 2 or 3 of those things and it's major disaster time. MAJOR.
OL situation in constant dire flux because of nicked Lofton, semi-nicked Stan, question mark and experimentation at LG. One of these problems we could probably handle, 2-3: major disaster time.
REC situation: just reflects a useless and total bust of a FA, plus the superstar Schoen being hurt again right away. What were they thinking?
The other units are doing ok, but then again, they aren't dealing with bad injury situations...
Bottom line: 100% healthy WPG probably is still losing games. But nicked up in certain units? Disaster.
Airlift.

You're coming off the rails a bit, can't write a player off after their first game at LT, it usually takes a half season or more to get accustomed to a new position and in that time mistakes are going to be made. If Marty Costello approves of their play and thinks they have the skill set to proceed moving forward, then they've earned the red seal stamp of approval and I'll provide them patience to develop.

People called Stanley Bryant a bust his first season with us because it's pretty impossible to be good when the line around you stinks. The OL has to be built as a single unit and it's been a rotating cast all season.

I'm more concerned about RT. LT is Stan or we lose most games. As PJ would say: "simple as".
And you proved my point: we'll be losing, and Zach will keep getting hit & injured if we insist on playing new OTs.
Randolph has gotten a ton of starts at RT now and he's just getting worse. I don't think either Rand/Vant is our future at "desired starting" OT. Sorry.
Let's say it takes 2-3 more seasons for one to magically become Big Stan. That will be 2-3 seasons of losing badly if they are our starters. It we had a mobile QB we might get away with it, but right now we need a league-best pocket for our QB to play his best game.

Almost. He was going to be demoted in any case. He's past the cut date for veterans and he does have an actual injury to his right elbow according to some posters.
So the CFLPA set a criteria that forces him onto the 6 game IR. It's different than if he was not injured and they choose to do that to avoid SMS. It was their only option once they reached a point that he couldn't be released.

Yah, don't think the 6 game is ever used to stash players to save their SMS hit, unlike the 1 game were the CFL is willing to turn a blind eye. The player has to agree to being placed on the 6 game and the CFLPA would back him up if the injury claim was false. It also means they can't practice with the team, I guess they could hang around and pretend they're still part of the team, but what's the point?
I believe an outspoken player like MBT might demand a trade or go directly to the press if the Als tried to moth ball him for the remainder of the season. A few other teams could benefit from having him on their team (notably Stamps + Lions) so I think his career as as a backup QB is far from over.

Fair is 8/8 kicking field goals in exhibition games for Calgary in 2023 & 2024. His longest attempt was 42 yards.
In 2025 he attended training camp in Edmonton. In pre-season he was credited with 2 punts. He also had a kickoff that was credited to Cody Grace.

could be the beginning of the end for Lauther. Sask is recognizing their gaps in talent and doing something about it.
great kickers can be hard to find...this may simply cause Lauther to be more laser focused...or he will fold.
from twitter :
Corey Mace didn't waste any time testing new kicker Campbell Fair.
Set up 2 situations for a field goal with no time left. Fair hit both, the second from 56 yards into a bit of wind. #riders
It'll be funny if they outright cut Lauther and then the new guy is just as bad. (But probably bad for less money.)
One would think they'll kick the tires on PR a bit then give him an AR dress or 3 and decide then. Lauther can wither on the PR. Or he wakes up with the new fire under his butt. All things are possible...

I would just change one word - "It'll be
GLORIOUS if they outright cut Lauther and then the new guy is just as bad"
I don't hope for injuries on other teams, that is dark - but I DO hope for incompetence and stupid decisions that make them fail and go down in flames. Especially the riders, and the leafs...

To Toronto - LS Simon Chaves
To Hamilton - 7th round draft pick in 2027
Chaves has been making the rounds this year. He was with Toronto in the pre-season; played 6 games for Ottawa when Peter Adjey was injured; played 2 games for Hamilton when Gordon Whyte got injured; it now sounds like Adam Guillemette is injured in Toronto.
There have been several long snappers on the injured lists this season.

He's past the veteran cut down date, so that's not a direct option. They might have to 1 game IR him to keep him paid.

The Edmonton Elks have agreed to terms with National offensive lineman Carter O'Donnell.
The 26-year-old adds to an Elks offensive line that starts four Nationals and two other former Alberta Golden Bears alumni in David Beard and Mark Korte. The former Golden Bear himself O'Donnell arrives in Edmonton after having spent the previous five years in the National Football League, spending time with the Indianapolis Colts from 2020-2023 and most recently playing in five games (three starts) for the Arizona Cardinals in 2023.
"Carter O'Donnell is a significant addition to our offensive line. His toughness, physicality, and relentless style of play are exactly what we seek in the trenches," Elks vice president of football operations and general manager Ed Hervey said in a press release.
"Carter isn't just here to compete, he's here to push for a starting role and make an immediate impact on our roster."
Prior to his time in the NFL, the Calgary product suited up for four seasons with the Chris Morris led Golden Bears, where he was molded into one of the highest recruited players in the program's history.
O'Donnell entered the 2020 draft process as the third ranked player by the Canadian Scouting Bureau. He would end up being one of two U SPORTS players to attend the East-West Shrine bowl that season, catching the eye of NFL scouts. O'Donnell went unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft but was later signed by the Colts as an undrafted free agent.
Due to his NFL obligations, O'Donnell was selected in the third round (22nd overall) of the 2020 CFL Draft by the Montreal Alouettes. His rights would remain with Montreal until Edmonton swung a deal for O'Donnell in 2022, trading the first-overall selection in the 2022 CFL Draft in exchange for the lineman's rights and the fourth-overall pick.
The 6-foot-5, 313-pound lineman brings experience at both the guard and tackle positions for the Elks, in addition to his pro pedigree.

According to David Sanchez only 7 CFL players had NFL tryouts this year, 6 were cut outright and 1 made a PR. For this small number they have a clause that allows any CFL player to tryout with an NFL team if offered the opportunity. Not sure there is a deeper reason for providing the NFL window but the cost is significant, as most of the players that leave are budding stars and valuable commodities. Bombers lost Pokey for half the season and struggled to replace him because he wanted to chase a butterfly he couldn't catch.

It's all about the carrot. That's it, that's all. If you took away the NFL window then half the IMPs probably would never come north at all. Ever.
Every last rookie IMP comes up here thinking this is their ticket to the NFL. Zero rookies come up here thinking they want a career in the CFL as their final goal. It's only after they've been here a while that they see how you can do well being a CFL lifer.
Now, can you tweak it and optimize it and make it "more fair"? Sure. I'd like to see the teams that release the player to the NFL window get rights in perpetuity should the player return; as in the original team gets right of first refusal regardless of how many years they were down south. Right now it's only for the length of the contract.

That's probably the narrative the scouts continue to push down South because it's the easiest, but you'd think wanting to continue their football career and economic necessity would spur enough of them to sign on regardless. The majority of college players go un-drafted, their chances of making the NFL are infinitesimal and there are likely tens of thousands of ex players still hoping to get back into the game any way they can. The CFL needs to shed their inferiority complex and stand confident they are offering these players a decent opportunity to make a living playing football.

Except every 22yo player who is good enough to get a look in the CFL thinks (knows!) for sure that THEY are the best player ever and good enough for the NFL. It's just that the NFL is "wrong" and they will "show them". That is their mindset. No young player with pro-level talent and pro aspirations starts their career thinking "I'm not good enough".
The only way that wouldn't hold is if the player is great but has the wrong body type (i.e. Waterbug RECs, or short QBs). AND that someone has informed them about this immutable limitation. (Ironically enough they often make the best CFL lifers!)
As for inferior: we are inferior in the mind of any IMP: We can offer good players $150k in most positions. NFL, well...

Don't know where Myron was residing but I think one of the main reasons teams sign recently cut CFL players is because they are in the country already or the paperwork to import them has already been completed. Has to be a major saving in time, money and hassle vs signing an American player that doesn't even own a passport. What's first, criminal record check? LOL

Theis had the one big return for TD because teams thought he was useless. Now that teams know he's not useless, he is limited to meh returns.
Theis is a plodder. He got a few good runs in because teams didn't really understand him until they got film. And MTL is pass-mostly this season, and they set teams up for unexpected runs, which makes Theis look better than he is.
I will predict right now Scott is the RB they start in the post-season. Not Theis. Especially if their main returner (Letcher?) is healthy.

wow. bombers should have been all over that. 4th round is nothing
Agree, Stamps pass rush just got a whole lot better.
I thought he was injured last game....
Good move for stamps, would have like WAlters to do something to help our line

Same here. I thought it looked bad, even a season-ender? CGY may be eyeing '26 with this move. That would explain the cheap price.
However, everything may be going on fire sale in OTT soon! Who do *we* want for next season or a GC run?
Mauldins stats are crazy, he had one good year in '22 with 17 sacks, the other years the most he had was 8 and this year only 2.
Feels like he cashed in on the one year though

Ya, but he's been in Ottawa, playing for the Deadblacks....there can't be a happier player in the league than Mauldin right now, goes from a perennial basement dweller to contender with a shot to win it all. Good on him.

Wonder what GM Sean Burke is aiming to achieve with all these deletions? Are they about to airlift in a ton of new players for 2026 tryouts? Everybody should be nervous including Bob Dyce and Burke, Dru Brown must be having second thoughts about the future, anyone know his contract status?
Releasing a vet after vet cutdown day saves zero $SMS... have to wonder what is going on in OTT. Guessing they tried trading him... even for a neg lister no one bit.

I don't think any of this is significant. PR players mostly with the exception of the Maudlin trade but even that was MEH.
Eley was only a 2nd year player and already on their PR. Probably an ELC player that wasn't depth needed.
