#BREAKING: Done deal! #Ticats will hire Ted Goveia as the team's new general manager. An official announcement is expected Wednesday. #CFL #HamOnt
Good hire by the Ticats. But Goveia has his work cut out for him.
Ugh, this is turning into an ugly off-season so far. Not pleased. Gotta keep McManus then. Too much change too fast will be deadly come week 1. Player retention may get harder too.
GM is a huge step, and good for Ted. I think he'll do well. But I'm greedy and don't want to see the quality office guys bailing like this.
KW/WM getting more grey hairs as we speak. Why aren't all of these guys getting snatched up and not the 2-times-in-3-years-champs TOR guys? I thought we'd be more immune to poaching this year with mediocre performance by many/most.
I wonder if 3 heartbreaking losses is ruining morale and making people eye the exits? Again, better pray this doesn't spill over into the player side too much, or our burn-it-down rebuild may be '25 and not '26... by force!
Good luck to Ted and thanks for your time in Winnipeg.
This was bound to happen eventually.
All the best in The Hammer, Mr. Goveia.

He was nothing short of fantastic and will continue to help the league. Hurts us but helps the mothership.
Yeah, it's a loss for the Bombers but we'll move forward. I wonder who will be considered?
Glad he got a promotion, he was good here. Other teams manage to find talent too though so I don't think it's a death blow. We do have to find someone else ASAP. Surely the Bombers have a short list already, you could see this day coming.

This is the area Walters started out and he still has his fingers on the pulse of Natl. talent, he shouldn't have any difficulty choosing a young assistant with all of his connections in U-Sport. It will help free up some money in the admin. cap if they bring in someone new looking for their first pro job.
If he takes McManus, that would really hurt... he deserved the gig though, well done.
Great teams get raided for talent all the time....

That would require a full explanation of why Danny is leaving.
To-Cats a the CFL's gain.....our loss, however it was just a matter of time. I wonder if they offer McManus the job here to keep him from jumping ship to Hammy?

I believe McManus lives in Venice, Fla. and has no interest in moving elsewhere - Winnipeg or Hamilton. That may limit his opportunities. The Bombers have found a way of making that work but others may not.

I think a lot of that arrangement was due to Goveia being here, they worked together, hence my concern of him moving too.
Again, I think this is a great opportunity to give Lapo two fun and easily shared hats to make a paycheck worth coming for. Working with McManus on the scouting in the "off" season, and focusing on OC duties te rest of the year gives him a full plate and a good paycheck. He gets to continue his NCAA travel/fun. And gets to Mad Scientist hid OC skills with a great team and HC.
I am sure Walters / Oshea will persevere through replacing an asst GM and OC, and its a sign we are doing great things, being poached for talent repeatedly. Usually its on field, this is teh first test of getting coaches/front office poached.
Did OTT announce their DC pick?

Not sure why your offer would be attractive to LaPo, spending the off-season on the road scouting players away from home and family would get old quick.
In his recent interview Rigmaiden revealed he plans to spend 6 months in Vancouver during the season and 6 months scouting from his home in Virginia where his family lives year round. Not sure McManus would go for that lifestyle, don't even know if he is married or has kids.
Lapo was travelling the NCAA scouting offensive scheme's when he was between gigs, and seems to love that part of things, So, giving him an opportunity to do that with Walters and McManus, adding Goveia's paycheck to Bucks, might make an offer worth considering.
Some guys like to work...

Personally I thought McManus would get this type of promotion before Goveia. That said, if you could keep only one, McManus is my pick.
Ted: impressive. Well spoken, smart and keen. HAM made a good move.
Funny how I've been following WFC closely for a decade and have never heard him talk before (same with Rigmaiden). McManus gets all the attention, and that's not much either!

McManus is essentially a local scout. I don't think he gets any attention other than the fact more people know who he is because of his playing career.

No kidding, I barely knew what Ted looked like, it wouldn't be the worst idea to have ED TAIT include interviews with some of the staff on the Bomber podcast. Some of them are more interesting than the players and certainly have more CFL stories and life experiences to share.
