Title: 2024 NFL season
Post by: The Zipp on June 04, 2024, 09:09:37 PM
While the Bombers season is getting started we can still be excited about the upcoming NFL season.  Big dollars are being tossed around at players, we have rookie QB's getting a chance to create their legacy and after 40+ years of being a Steelers fan I am heading to Pittsburg for the first time ever for Sunday night football vs the Cowboys. IF any of you have been to Pittsburgh and have some must see places let me know.

Got a chance to check out Betts on the weekend. Played well. he had a DT and a sack in his limited.

Did not see Manu at all in that game.

The finish was pretty good.

LOTS of sloppy play the whole game though. Especially the Ravens.

Steelers and Bombers can't get much going on offense...all FG's today for my nfl team.

Haha to the Bungles and the Browns...

Some monster hits in the games today.

Their first could of games looked pretty meh, but the run game is rolling now. If they get an early lead, they seem to be able to take over the game. But they don't play as well from behind.

I don't always get the NFL versions of rules, so I'm usually surprised with a lot of play calls. I like how they have a "rules expert" who walks through the calls afterwards.

NFL seems to allow way more hand fighting, so I can never determine pass interference.

Live from Pittsburgh:

Had no idea Pittsburgh was so nice, the rivers, the bridges, the restaurants and the bars...so far a great place to visit. The Steelers pro shop is huuuuge.

LOTS of cowboys fans here for this rivalry game.

Going to the terrible tailgate - it's an all you can drink event so updates might not come until tomorrow.

Head scratcher for sure when the Lions declared their desire to short kick at that point in the game.
NFL has many positives in the talent and t.v. game presentation
but this having to declare when you want to short kick and its bevy of little rules is pure awful

The two week break and useless pro bowl suck the life out of any excitement (not that there's much life to begin with for the Chiefs and Eagles again  ::) ).

Same with adding a 17th game. The 16 game schedule was perfect: start the weekend after the Labour Day weekend which is the unofficial end of summer, then go until the weekend around New Years when many are finishing up holidays. Now instead your first Sunday after returning to work and normalcy is more regular season games (many meaningless by the last week) instead of a super fun wild card weekend to look forward to. Then you have 3 solid weeks of playoffs followed by a weekend of nothingness, and then oh yeah, I guess the super bowl is on in another week...

Could have wrapped this season up nicely last Sunday, finishing the 2024 regular season within the year 2024, and then playoffs kept to January. Completely unnecesssarily drawn out.

Probably the worst SB I've every seen.  Eagles D won the game, proving the "D wins championships" trope.

Did not watch half time at all, sounds like I didn't miss anything.

Sat through the first quarter with horrible audio, was that on everyone's set, or just mine.  My wife set TSN5 to record it, and until mid second quarter its was horrible.  Worse than Netflix's Tyson fight.  Not a good look, TSN

Did you hear this comment ... "Now Mahones has something in common with Collaros ... neither one could close the deal on a 3-peat".

I suppose that's true but last time I checked football was a team game. Easy to hang a loss on the QB but there was lots of failure elsewhere too just like you alluded to above. KC O-line couldn't keep Mahones clean at all and where was the running game? Dominated by the Eagles all over the field.

The 2 games were very similar when you break it down. The Eagles and Argos came to play and made big plays on offense on defense, defense scored pick six, and the Chief's and Bomber's O line couldn't handle the pressure the Eagle's or Argos put on them, making Mahommes and Collaros look really, really bad. Big time/much talked about recievers Travis Kelce and Kenny Lawler were almost invisible in the game. Chiefs and Bombers abandoned the run , well the Cheifs had to when they were down 34-0!!!

Game is won and lost in the trenches. And in this off season, we've done nothing to beef up our interior D line--did you see the pressure the Eagles were getting from their DT's!!!, and we let an allstar guard go, and replaced him with nobody in terms of quality/proven talent, we're leaving it up to incumbent 'next man up'.

The game is won and lost in the trenches, and we're going to lose that battle on both sides of the ball again this year

Saw someone say that Mahomes hit his head in the first quarter, and was terrible after that...

I don't think the refs called a typical Chief's game, and that's why they lost.

Oh, and the Eagles played amazing.
