Avs and Stars have loaded up. The Central is the division to watch now, IMO.

Leafs vs Avs might be worth watching tonight. Leafs goal tending has been suspect of late. Avs may be able to light them up.

Ouch! That's a 25% salary hit, 20 games including 2 playoff games. It doesn't sound like it was a trace amount either. He's going to take a hit to his persona as an athlete too. At least he'll be back in time to help his team win a Stanley Cup.

QuoteMONTREAL - Montreal public health officials say someone contagious with the measles virus who was not vaccinated attended an NHL game at the Bell Centre on March 3 between the Canadiens and the Buffalo Sabres.

Officials say people are considered measles contacts if they were a spectator or concession worker in the red area of seats in sections 111 to 117 between 5:30 p.m. to midnight.

Workers at the Tim Hortons and Pizza Pizza inside the arena are also considered measles contacts.

Health officials are recommending that anyone considered a contact who is unvaccinated against the disease should isolate at home until March 17 inclusive.

People outside the measles risk area could have been exposed to the virus but are not considered contacts and are advised to monitor for symptoms.

There have been 31 confirmed cases of measles in Quebec between mid-December and March 7, with 24 cases in the Laurentians region north of Montreal.

Yikes.

Wow.  Measles is a very contagious disease.  Apparently 90% of unprotected people (unvaxxed or those who haven't had it before)will contract it from the slightest exposure.

With the anti-vax crowd out there gaining so much steam, I can see this being a mass infection event...
Unabashed positron.  Blue koolaid in my fridge.  I wear my blue sunglasses at night.  Homer, d'oh.

Heard a report today that 34% of NHL players have some sort of no trade clause in there contracts. 90% of those players have Winnipeg as one of there no trade teams.

Yeah maybe. Just grabbing some numbers off of Google shows there's over 1100 players in the NHL for the 2024-2025 season and 269 have no-trade/no-move clauses. That's 24% which is an average of 8.4 players per team. Could be higher now. It's pretty hard for Winnipeg to compete with cities with warm climates and vibrant night-life for young millionaires, not to mention the horrendous tax rates in Canada.

NHL reportedly mulling 84-game season for 2026-27, potential start in September.

Can't say I like that.

2 more games! Plus Olympic and bi-annual best on best tournaments, isn't the current 82 game schedule ridiculously cramped as it is?
This sounds like a dumb idea to me.
1 step forward 3 steps back NHL is a greed based BS organization. No surprise I guess.

Agreed. I don't like it either. 82 is more than enough. They're arguing it'll create more regional rivalry matchups. I wasn't aware that was an issue.

Some notable points from Commissioner Bettman's presser today:

- NHL/NHLPA will meet first week of April re: CBA negotiations
- no rule changes proposed by GMs
- not a fan of new decentralized draft format
- not in favour of extending 3-on-3 OT (concerns related to ice, wear and tear on players)
- 2025-26 season slated to begin Oct. 7
- brainstorming re: 2026 ASG (alternates being discussed due to success of 4 Nations Cup)

I never saw that coming. I wonder what is responsible for the turnaround in him and his game.
